What do you guys do if you need more than 8 sense inputs? I have a feeling I'm going to run out of sense inputs on a current job. Not right away but maybe in a couple months as things get added to the property.

I don't have a solution... but I would love to know what your working on that is going to take up all 8 ports... anything interesting?

You can set up a decimal to binary converter. The 8 sense inputs will give you 256 different possiblites. You then need a system macro to test for the right combination of 1s and 0s. This won't initiate a action unless you run the macro.

Wow, that's clever.  I always forget about binary.

Mainly cameras. Push door bell which triggers the screens to wake up and switch to front door camera. This client has 6 motions outside that will be associated with cameras. Similar scenario, motion sensed then screens wake up and switch to that camera. I like using sense inputs for gates and garage doors also. This just happens to be a very large property.

I'm not familiar with this. Can you elaborate on how this is accomplished?

Thanks...

I think I would use a DSC panel and its 2 way driver for the extra inputs.

I believe the new PCM-8 MPIO expansion Module will give you 8 more sense ports if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, the PCM-8 plus 8 VPS1 or SPS1.  You can do up to 10 PCM-8's, so technically you could get 88 sense inputs, but it'll set you back... what... $9,400 MSRP plus the XP-8?  :)

Not sure this is sense contact closure.... Voltage and Video yes...

Digital binary circuits convert an iinput from 1 to 256 to a binary number 00000000 to 11111111. For example if camera 14 went high you would get 00001100 or expansion ports 3 and 4 on. You would need a pretty big system macro that would need to run to test.

you could get another XP-8 and use the rs232 macros to communicate to it.

If it can't detect dry closure then add a small power supply.

The VPS1 or SPS1 won't give you event control, they will give you power condion.
