Hello Friends,

I am using a FS22 Iport and I do not seem to get the cover art, I was wondering if the cover art is working? I will greatly appreciate if anyone has any info on this I have tried every variable in the text edit but still no luck. Once again thank you and GOD bless you all.

Hello Everyone,

Allow me to reply myself I spoke to RTI first and they told me it was an Iport issue that they do not support cover art. So this week Avad had a vendor show and I spoke to the sonance Iport rep and I explained him the issue and he told me that they know about it and that he has request it to the R&D guys and that within a year they should have an update for the cover art I do not know if we have to change any hardware or is a software issue or maybe we have to buy a new one, anyways if you need cover art from the ipod get an escient FP1 it works. GOD bless you all.

Iport doesn't do cover art...

I've found that the iPort is WAY faster than the FP1 because it doesn't have to wait for the dock to download all the info over the network. The iPort takes its info directly from the iPod.

RTI has an updated driver for the FP1 coming shortly (I've been messing with it for the last week). Instead of the XP8 trying to download all the info from the Escient piece, it takes the info from the Escient as it needs it. This speeds things up dramatically. Unfortunately, you still have to wait for the FP1 to download all the info first.

Bottom line: If you don't need an Onscreen GUI, use the FS22.

My understanding is that RTI won't be able to support any Cover Art with the existing Iport. Zigbee only sends metadata, no graphics, it is to slow to get that much info. It does it with escient but over wifi network. Since Iport doesn't have a network port I don't think it will be added to this generation of Iports.

Anyone do both Iport and Escient? Which do you like better? I like the Iport, it works good, and pretty straight forward.

I've done both.

As I stated above; if you don't need an onscreen GUI (for a room with a TV but not a Zigbee remote) then the FP1 is the way to go. You MUST make the customer understand that depending on how much music is on the iPod, it could take anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes to get all the info over the network... maybe longer!

Otherwise, the FS22/IW22 is the way to go for basic metadata. I couldn't care less about album art.
