Sorry, they shut down geocities on the 26th of October! I'm too cheap to pay for another storage site....lol.

If anyone's looking for it let me know and I'll e-mail it to you!

Sent the file, should be in your inbox.

I got it thanks. We could always put it in the file section here. I could do this if you are ok with that?

Yes but the protocol is not RC5, it's NEC.

Ahh but wait this utility, not only converts RC5, it also fixes bad RC5X and RC6, validating against the original NEC.  It also makes RC5 out of NEC which I believe was its original purpose. put in the compressed code and it spits out the whole string. I used to use make hex until I found this, I will upload it to this site, I thought it was already posted here?

I uploaded the RC5 to hex converter to the pronto program section, so it will be there as soon as Daniel posts it

That is impossible!

A Device that uses NEC IR Protocol can not use RC5 instead unless that Device is designed to do so...which is very unlikely. They are two totally different IR Protocols.

You can download the Pronto RCx only Generator here,

Or go to this Site,

Are you sure about that?
Here is some standard hex
0000 0073 0000 001A 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0CA5 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0497

Put it in the converter and click RC5
and you get this short hex which works with pronto
0000 0073 000D 0000 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 09B7

Oh and look at this, here is an RC5 command
5000 0000 0000 0001 0000 00eF

Put it in the converter and oops we get this, stuff that usualy works just fine with RTI
0000 0073 0013 0000 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 00A0 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 09B7

the first set of Hex decodes as RC5 device 16 function 1.
the second set thru the converter decodes as RC5 device 0 function 0.
the shortform Hex looks like RC5 device 0 function 239.
the last set of Hex decodes as RC5x device 0 function 0.
the first three are RC5 codes, the last one is RC5x which incidentally if you put into a pronto compresses it to
5001 0000 0000 0002 0000 0000 0000 0000

none of them are NEC. Jason is correct when he says you cannot convert NEC to RC5.

What do those RCx Codes have to do with NEC Codes?

This does not prove that you can convert NEC IR Protocol Codes to RCx IR Protocol Codes and then use those Hex Codes to control a Device that uses NEC e.g. Yamaha, Toshiba, Onkyo, Integra, Humax, Topfield and many more.

All you are doing is generating different types of RCx Hex Codes as Makitamark said.

All I really care is that the converted code works with RTI which it does, and that It will correct some bad codes, which it does from time to time

i don't think this program has made it to the files section as yet, if i post an RC5 code, can you use the RC5 to Hex program to 'convert' it and then i can test it into my equipment?

hold on............ thats exactly the same Hex string you posted in post #20 above!

the Hex code i posted was RC5 device 17 function 123, power on for an Arcam tuner, it would seem through your converter program it is changed to RC5x device 0 function 0. this code won't work any more with my Arcam.

please don't take this the wrong way, but, are you sure you're using this program correctly?

i can't seem to get hold of a copy of it, Kevin has emailed me a copy but crappy Hotmail has blocked it! maybe it needed to be zipped?

Mark,
Post 19 has a Link to the Program. It is a later version of the one RTI is using. The program works fine for RCx Protocol but that is it.

I resent it with instructions. You should be able to SAVE it to your desktop, right click and rename from "RC-5 to HEX.rename" to "RC-5 to HEX.exe".

I am not sure what is going on, I have been using the same program for years that you are now directing makitamark to download.

I have successfully converted many rC5 strings with this utility, but here I am trying to convert this string he posted:
0000 0073 0000 000B 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0040 0020 0020 0020 0CA4

and all it give me is this:
0000 0073 0000 0010 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 00C0 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 09B7
i am stumped as to why
