I'm fairly comfortable with URC control software, but I'm thinking of changing to RTI. Is the control software fairly similar in layout and programming? How is the RS-232 programming? Thanks.

I think it is easier, No hiding pages and pulling codes from them.
232 is easy, there is a database for some products as is IR.
if you want a command on a button...just drag the IR code onto it, You want a macro...Click the macro tool and then drag the IR commands into the macro editor window.
Pretty simple once you do a few systems.....And its all in 1 program

You can do a lot more in my opinion. It's more powerful so you can do a lot more so expect to use more brain cells - especailly when you want to be creative. The 2-way harvests another whole level of control and expertise.

MUCH easier, once you unlearn all the crazy "tricks" you have to do in URC programming.
Want an IR code on that button? Put it there! No adding devices, hiding pages, aliasing, etc.
Best software I've come across so far.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like the way to go then. In order to control more than 2 RS232 devices it looks like I would need an XP-8?

You can do up to 6 on the RP-6 and 0 on the RP-1.
The New ZRP-6 isnt available as of yet, but will have 2 as well as up to 6 more on the MI/O ports
Just remember for every MI/O port thats 1 less IR port you can use

The RTI software is great. It's the only thing I miss about RTI.
