Anyone using the FP1? I have control over it but the scrolling list, etc seem to be intermittent at best. One minute everything there, another nothing there but artist, track, etc. Sometimes works fine, sometimes doesn't.

I can understand maybe the T3V Zig, but not on K4 & K3s.

I have the unti on a static IP and am controlling via ethernet and using 2way driver

Thanks for any tips or help.

Are you using 232 at all?

Some control systems can’t handle the 1-second status updates the Fireball sends out when playing music. You might want to try unregistering unsolicited events and see what happens. Simply issue the command “ESCX7003” from the control system to the Fireball and see how it goes. Let me know.

I've had no problems with it on K4 and RK3's.  Works like a champ.

I've also had no problems with it on K4 and RK3 units. IIRC when playing a playlist, there is some limitations due to the ipod. I recall coverart not working on playlists but can't remember if anything else didn't work.

I'm having the same problems as denonfreak, as well as, it takes ages to sync in the first place. Sometimes, not at all. XP-8, RK3, static IP, ethernet and 2 way driver.

I have been dealing with the same problem but times two . I have two fp 1 im trying to control . It works great some times . and really spotty other times. It really doesn't like to be moved arounded either if I walk to another room there a 10 second span where it will stop working. I've spend three full days tinker with it. if u take the ipod out and use internet radio don't have to many issues. Plus it i would not try it with an i-phone it really didn't work at all. I'm going to try the command “ESCX7003” .

No, I am controling via Ethernet and receiving data via 2-way.

I have had trouble using other RTI products on static ip and changed to DHCP and worked fine (weather, etc). The problem is you can't use the RTI driver without a static IP on the driver page. Using DHCP it may change and then no control ):

Like I said I'm stumped. Seems to really be an issue with syncing as alot of times the IPOD info just disappears. Interent Radio seems to work fine although sometimes even those channels can be finicky.

It has to be something to do with your router, security and or security software, wireless signal, or network. I have no problem with IP; several others report the same. Have you looked into that? Drop the firewalll and all encryption and see if you get better results...

Had the same problem and it was the driver that we were using. Update the drivers and see what happens.

Update, on another system I've been working on, XP-8, K4, T2CZ and Escient FP-1 has been having various issues. Arrived on site this morning (clients are away on holidays for a week), to find power Off to part of the house, including AV gear, and of course, refridgerator and freezer.

Let the clients know the 'good news' regarding the freezer, then found that the XP-8 and K4 to be 'acting up' even more than normal.

Put in a call to Greg at RTI Controls and he suggested, as I'm using IP Control, to do away with the control cable between the XP-8 and K4 and to power the K4 using the 16 volt power supply instead of powering it via the control cable via the XP-8 (12 volts).

Wow, what a difference, when I return to the job I mentioned in post 5 I'll be checking to see if this same solution helps.

I took the ipods out the docks reset everything and everything works fine with internet radio. so the programing and setting should be fine . So i put the ipod in the other fp-1 and all the problem started again. With both ipod docks off the system works fine . I found the fp-1 slows down volume feedback as well. Does anybody have any idea . Has anybody tried issueing the ESCX7003” command

I just finished a job with 2 RK3, 5 T2CZ, and a T3VZ. All work great.

I recommend you just copy the list from the "Escient sample" file that RTI has. It works great. And also use the "system state" text variable somewhere on the iPod page of your screen. This will show if the dock is syncing/ready/error/offline, it gives the user a little feedback that the dock is doing something instead of just guessing that it is broken.
