Does anyone know how to save a group of buttons so it's available in ID? Like the number pad you can drag over from the bitmap library that is actually mad up of 12 individual buttons. The technique for doing this isn't listed on RTI's website. It only tells how to do backgrounds and up/down states of buttons. on another note... made my first custom button. woo hoo! and a 2nd one

Jim, first off, great work with the buttons!
As of now, I use custom graphic folders in the RTI Bitmap Library directory, and just pull the graphics out of there for now, it works fine, although I wish there were better formatting options, like creating an actual .rtitemplate file.
Oh well.

Thanks!
I just want to be able to pull over a toolbar (like the orange one above...) and have ID see it as 4 or 5 separate buttons. I guess it would just save a few seconds of aligning individual buttons, but still....

Confirmed... it can't be done by anyone outside of RTI's circle. Sorry man, wish I had better news.

C'mon Dan, show me the way...
There must be a way to duplicate the RTI template files.

I'd show you, but then I'd have to kill you. hehe
Seriously though, I don't even know how to do it myself. One guy here knows about this kind of thing. I spoke to him about it and it's a no-go. It's an RTI thing. Sorry guys. :(

RTI needs to let you guys that are good enough and smart enough to be able to do it. Why would they not allow it? Is there an actual reason as to why they wouldn't want us to have the ability? Could we mess up their program?

Who says you can't put 61" plasmas up on cantilever mounts using toggle bolts? <---Thanks Ernie ;) |

When asked about this in RTI @Cedia programming classes this year (again, like in every class I've taken) the response is the same .....
Not able to do it right now, with the way access of templates is incorporated into the program it it's isn't easy at this time to provide a way to have user edited templates imported into ID. Not only due to the way that section of the program is built but also the concern of the overall size increase to ID that this would cause. Because of these two reasons, R&D into this issue is very low on the priority list.

Sorry for bringing back to life such an old thread, but I was looking for an answeer to this very same question and found this thread. It is possible now to import templates and/or custom buttons into the ID library or it is still the same than before? Thanks in advance.

I just found a document at the RTI site in how to import custom graphics, but nothing about a template, so I'm assuming this is still no possible, but i might be wrong.

There is another folder for templates, I think it's in 'My Documents', but can't remember for sure. I keep all of my custom Bitmap libraries and Templates in my Dropbox folder and point ID to them there.
