Does anybody have the wiring specs for the CM-232? (Is it available yet?)

With the Australian $ the way is is at the moment this cable will cost me about $200 to buy from the US, so I want to try to make one locally.

Cheers
Richard

No, RTI won’t release it. They have told me it was more complicated then a normal cable. If anybody has there hands on one of the prototypes there are plenty of folks willing to reverse engineer it.

Sorry Bill,

Does this mean RTI haven't actually released the cable at all yet?

Or that the wiring specs aren't available (or probably both!)

Cheers Richard

Richard,

RTI made six prototypes that they showed the world at CEDIA and everybody was told delivery would be last October. They then received productions run (we are told), that they claimed were made wrong and did not work. They then said that they had to get into the back of the long Chinese line for a new batch.

I was assured by RTI that the six that were made did work but I would sure like to have one to try. So I really don't know the whole story and if there is any more to it than this, we will just have to wait and see.

Finally got my hands on some of these. NOPE, no simple TRS mini to DB9 here...mysterious circuitry blob involved. Not cheap either....

So far ASCII stuff working good...no luck with HEX.

Jeff W,

Are you saying that hex based 232 strings do not work w/`the CM232?

jc,

Well, I'm not saying they don't work, just that I have not been able to get them to work.

Hoping to get some feedback from others attempting to use the cm232 in similar fashion...particularly with Sony Plasma panels or Sony CIS 200's.

The help guy at RTI says it works, but can offer no advice.

Lemme know if you get it to work.

Good Luck.
