Thank you all so much. My salesman is aggressive to say the least and unfortunately his willingness to provide information and rationale is not nearly as great as his willingness to turn every order into the most expensive configuration possible. When I asked to refund me for some of the extras (the day after I bought them over the phone), he said that they had already been installed in my rack. I do not believe him as everything else they have done has taken weeks. He claims that the RF is the best solution and it always works (he also insisted he had the RS 232 and I needed it to communicate with my AVR307 but mysteriously he now says it was not installed because I did not need it. ).

Frankly I am worn down from this whole affair and if I had to do it over again, many $1000s later, I would not use this company. I could go on and on with a tale of deception and incompetency. The installer of the wiring ruined wood paneling on the outside of my house as he did not know how to run the wires from one room to another. My own contractor ahd to come bail him out the next day after I came home form work and saw a rat's nest of cables on the outside of my house and multiple large holes punches throught the siding. Of course the 'system designer' never showed up that day. There is much more to tell but I will not waste your time, and this is the reputable dealer in this area, yikes.

Caveat emptor as they say, I realize I am at part to blame, but for one who has not purchased even stereo equipment in 10 years, this stuff is complicated and you are really to a great degree in the hands of your salesman and 'designer'. I have yet to figure out what the $1000s I paid in design fees were really for.

But again, thank you for all of your responses. So far he has not told me that the remote was programmed already so I may be back with questions as I tackle this myself.

Hacky,

How much is he charging for the equipment, piece by piece, how much for installation, and how much for programming?

I bought the RTI remote, IRF-6 (rf system interface module), 2 video sensor modules and one voltage power sensor for a total of $925 from Bill.

I feel you have been ripped off...$1500-2000 just for some simple programming and taping up some ir-transmitters...

It might be worth an extra $1000 to have a great professional installation job done, but this guy seem more interested in making as much money as he can by "over-selling" and including unneccesary and overpriced items in the configuration.

Bill, I am interested in the T2, and possibly the RF component. I was wondering if I were to give you all the equipment in my hometheater, could you make a recommendation to the accesories I should have?

Brian,

I am on the road doing a custom job in California. The gal running the office only knows how to fill orders.

Please e-mail me direct, and of course I will help you, but service will be a bit slower as I have to fit it in durring my off site time.

If you are not shy about your components, just list them here and I am sure you will get some help from experienced theatertouch owners.

I'd very much appreciate advice on required RTI components to have full control - including power sensing.

My setup is:

TV - Loewe Arcada
Toshiba DVD
Panasonic VCR
Cable Box
Krell 20l CD Transport
Krell KRC HR Preamp
Krell HTS Home Theatre Standard Processor
Krell 300 FPB Ampo for front speakers
Krell 250 a/3 Amp for centre and rear speakers

I'm not shy re attempting own programming. I definitely want the power sensing capability

Any suggestions welcome - I'm new to this forum and only discovered the RTI unit and its potential today on this site so have not thoroughly looked into what it can do but at first glance it looks great

Rory,

Nice equipment selection. The selection of components may very but here is a list of sensing requirements. This is in addition to the T2, IRF-6 and (3) Xantech 284 dual emitters and (1) 283 single emitter.

TV - Loewe Arcada,: discrete codes available
Toshiba DVD: discrete codes available
Panasonic VCR: need VPS-1 video sensor
Cable Box: need more information
Krell 20l CD Transport: 12-Volt trigger should not need anything else.
Krell KRC HR Preamp: need SPS-1 voltage sensor
Krell HTS Home Theatre Standard Processor: need SPS-1 voltage sensor
Krell 300 FPB Amp for front speakers: 12-Volt trigger should not need anything else.
Krell 250 a/3 Amp for centre and rear speakers: 12-Volt trigger should not need anything else.

I find it hard to believe that the Krell discreet codes are not available, maybe someone out there knows of a source?

Actually, the Krell FPB amps do not have 12 volt triggers. However, Krell sells a little black box that has a 12 volt trigger input and then connects to the Krell Link port on the amplifier. The FPB amps have IR sensors, but discrete on/off commands are not available.

I would think that discrete power codes would be available for the HTS - contact Krell and ask for technical support. They're usually pretty helpful.
