Daniel,

First off, my compliments on a fine review. A lot of work went into that.

I was wondering about using this remote with something like the new pioneer 300 + 1 disk megachangers. I was thinking about total memory and title display issues. Perhaps this is not the right remote for that sort of thing? Thanks.

I talked to Mitch at RTI and he said that it will.

Will,

Thanks for your reply. I still don't see how this remote could be used to display titles on its own screen like the Pronto does. The screen seems too limited for that. I guess you could rely on a TV screen. Perhaps that's just as good, except for CD's.

How do you display the changer's CD titles on the Pronto? I'm baffled ...

Well I asked him that and he said that you can get 3-4 cd titles (buttons) per screen. He explained it as follows.......Say you group you music into catagories: rock jazz or alphabetical. Each "catagory" is a sheet, like a big sheet of paper, and each sheet can be viewed in pieces. SO say you have 40 Jazz titles, you can have a SHEET of Jazz and set it up so you have 10 screen you scoll thru (4 titles per screen).

Sounds like it works.

Here is his email with number....he seems to know what he is talking about:
Will,

Yes you could program in all your CD's and DVD's, but there are a few things
to consider.

The remote can have up to 64 pages and each page can have up to 12 frames,
which means you can have up to 768 separate screens to work with.

To make this task more manageable you would want to separate the cd's into
categories such as jazz, rock, seasonal, etc. and have separate pages for
each category. To make each button have enough information, I would suggest
having 3 buttons per frame which would give you 36 buttons on a single page.

Also, keep in mind that every time you add a CD/DVD or rearrange you
selections you will have to edit the T2 program.

If you have a deft touch and don't mind having between 7 and 29 characters per line (calculated with m's and i's), you could try and squeeze 6 per screen. But 3 per screen (36 per page) would mean you could get about 1152 track names in 32 pages. Assuming you only want titles names for 300 discs, at 36 per page you'd only need about 9 pages.

Although the page layout as seen in the left column in TheaterTouch designer has no depth, all of that can be created with your menus and link design. That "previous page" option sure will be handy! :-)

OK, so you're talking about knowing which CDs are in the changer and what their index is. I thought it involved some sort of two-way automatic thingy.

I asked Mitch about the two way communications and this DOES NOT have that capability.

Anyone see a price for this out in the market?

How do you think this will compare to the MX-1000 from Teater Master?

Will,

Somewhere I thought I saw a price for the MX-1000 for a little less than $300. I could very easily be wrong about this though. I think Daniel mentioned a price for the T2 in his review. Can't remember what it was.

Thanks......How do you think it will compare feature wise?

Will,

Well, I don't know. Guess I will wait for Daniel's review. I have reservations about buying something when I don't know much about what I'm buying.

The MX1000 was originally supposed to be $290 list... I'm not sure what plans are right now. The T2 is $649 list for IR/RF, or $449 for the IR-only version.
