I am trying to controlling the ST2 Tuner 1 via RNET from a CAV6.6 AND via 232 (into the tuner directly) from an RP6 with a T2c. It will not respond.

CM232 with no null.
19200
8 Data bits
1 stop bit
No Parity

Tuner 1 is set to Source 2.

Tune Up:
F0 00 7D 01 00 00 70 05 02 01 00 02 01 00 2F 00 70 00 01 00 01 2E F7
Tune Down:
F0 00 7D 01 00 00 70 05 02 01 00 02 01 00 30 00 70 00 01 00 01 20 F7

After examining some of the codes in the 232 mega list I found that they were incorrect and built a calculator so I could quickly generate codes for all source assignment. I checked the codes by hand as well so unless I got the proceedure wrong I think my codes should be good.

I would appreciate some help :).

Give me your email and I will send you the RTI library with all the propert ST2 commands for ST2 sources 1-12.
Hey, thats a nice plasma, you can put that in the back of my truck...

Will do...

Are my code strings incorrect?

I will add your stuff to the RS232 mega list if you do not mind

It looks like tune up is incorrect, the checksum is wrong. The Tune down looks fine, Does the CAV respond to commands, I guess what i am getting at is your Hardware properly connected and your control cabling in order. Does the russound system work with RNET control and metadata on the keypads? The other things you can check is how you are entering your strings in the RTI software, first things to check are is the "HEX" tab selected? make sure it is or your string will be in ASCII format and will not work. The Hex tab converts the ASCII to hex for you and vice versa. Also check your output ports and make sure you are sending your commands down the righ port. let me know if you are still having problems. PS, i sent you the SPHERE and complete ST2 protocol for sources 1 through 12, of you want to add it to the mega list thats fine.

My port assignments are correct.

I have tried a second CM232 cable and double checked the Pin assignments.

The Hex tab was set correctly when I built the library file.

The keypads seem to be working correctly via RNET to control the Tuner.

I am not trying to control the CAV via RTI... only the tuner via RTI... I am running the tuner output to inputs on two receivers so that the two surround rooms can tap into a "party" mode with the house tuner. This way the RTI remotes can call presets and execute basic tuner controls without having to go to a keypad.

I will rework the strings to see if i can find any issues. I will be back on site next week.

Make sure your CM232 is plugged directly into the RP6 and not into one of the IR adaptor cables. Also try connecting the CM232 into the CAV instead of the tuner, the rnet should carry the rs232 through to the tuner, this will test to see if it isn;t a bad rs232 port on the tuner. Also try different source commands for maybe tuner being source 1 or 3, you never know, it is always possible the RP6 or ST2 are bad, I would try RTI Tech support, they may have a different insight into the problem.

So. here was the skinny...

There were a few checksum mistakes that I corrected, however, the real issue was our engineering department and my lack of Russound experience.

After pulling my hair out trying to find why this was not working AND why the UNO keypads were not functioning correctly.

Our techs put together the system to spec, however, the spec detailed Tuner 1 connected to Input 2 on the CAV. I had first run drawing that showed it configured correctly but an updated set of plans showed changes to the input/output configuration. This, of course, caused issues with the Russound keypads.

My interpretation of the 232 protocol led me to belive that if If Tuner 1 was assigned to Input 2 on the CAV, I needed to issue source 2 codes and the tuner assignment/translation would be handled in the CAV setup. Well... not the way it is... obvious probably to you Russound guys out there.

I caught the problem when I accidentally bumped the tuner select button on the Tuner itself and noticed Tuner 2 responding to the commands and not Tuner 1. Needless to say it was a quick deduction and I tore into the rack to change the configuration, learned my lesson quick and asked engineering if they had ever read a Russound manual :).

Hello, I want to say that I'm new to ownership of a Russound system. My new house had it already installed. I have a Cav 6.6 with a single ST2. The builder buried the units in my office lower cabinet which was very hard to get to and do anything with. There are six Uno S2 keypads in my house. Here is what I did.

I removed the controller and tuner and placed them in a media closet in my family room. I didn't change any wiring. All cabling was just moved from my office into the media closet. I have everything back the way it was but my tuner isn't working right.

My presets on the tuner are there but when I turn on any of my keypads, I get only one channel. I am unable to change channels using the key pads. If I go to the tuner I can toggle through the channels and all is fine but I'm unable to do that with my keypads.

I went online to the JustAnswer webpage and had an expert walk me through many steps to resolve the issue. Everything from checking wiring, resetting both the controller and keypads and verifying everything again. No change.

Is there anyone out there that has experienced a similar problem? I don't know if something happened to my tuner or controller or both. Everything seems to work fine if I stand next to my tuner. I'm on my third set of antennas and finally have good reception from them.

Please help if you can. Thank you.

It sounds to me like wiring is not exactly right. First thought is that the control to the st2 is not there. Either this wire is missing, loose, or in wrong port...
