I am about ready to just get a replacement but I figured I would ask first. Any ideas on this one. I have a client with an M2 remote and an RP1 processor that worked fine for 4 months. All of a sudden the Remote only works via IR. All of the programming for the devices except for the tv are for rf. The client called me two days ago and said the remote will only work if I open the doors and stand in front of the cable box and avr. The next day I was scheduled to go out there but she called and informed me the issue resolved. The following day she called me back and said the problem happened again. Any clues?

Thanks.

We are having the exact same problem but with a T2c and a RP1. Unfortunately it's an hour and half drive so it's a PIA to fix.

I have to go into Manhattan from LI and have no place to park so I understand your pain. Anyone have a clue? Is it just a defective product? How can the programming just switch itself? Good luck to you Titanium.

Bring a spare M2 and spare RP1. Swap antennas first (easiest). Remote next (2nd easiest). Then.. whatever's left :^).

BTW, unlike the URCs, opening the door didn't allow it to communicate with IR - it got close enough so the RF started working.

I haven't fixed it yet. I'll be taking a look at it next week some time.
I actually didn't program it, one of the other guys did but I took a look a his programming and it seemed ok. I suspect the RP1 but will verify when I get there and let you know.

What about putting new batteries in it? Did you confirm this already?

As silly as it sounds I did not try new batteries. I wonder if it could be something as easy as that.

Update: I emailed the client and she put in new batteries but that did not correct the problem. Looks like I will replace one part at a time and find the problem. I will post the solution when I find it.

BTW again, I have NEVER seen a program "change" once I uploaded it and it worked. You don't have a program problem in my opinion. You have an RF range problem due to a bad remote, a bad antenna, or a bad RP1.

I read somewhere that you have to make sure you have the antenna attached to the RP-1 when you power it up.

So I'd guess if you're swapping antennas first, kill the power to the RP-1, then swap antennas, then power back up. Doesn't work, try again with the new RP-1.

Can you convince my techs on this one. They call me all to often, telling me the programming went bad and I need to go back and reprogram whatever.

I can say I have seen programming change three times in about 250 URC remotes (one MX500, and two mx800's). No RTI changes yet that can be confirmed though my quantity of RTI remotes is only 10. With 2 defective T2C's and a defective M2, but the problems were not programming related.
