Hi everybody, I could use some help with a strange problem.
I have a T4 + RP6 controlling a Pioneer receiver vsx-94txh, Samsung Blu-ray BDP-1400, Samsung DVD recorder/VCR combo DVD-VR357 and Marantz cd player.
I created macros so when the user preses "Blu-Ray" it powers up the the player and switches the Pioneer to the proper input. same for the dvd/vcr combo unit and the cd player.
My problem is that the "power on" commands and switching the inputs are quirky.
Most times the remote will go through the macro but units will not power up and the receiver will not switch.
I created a test page with the power commands and switching commands. When pressing the buttons on the test page the units power on/off without problem and the inputs switch without a problem. It is only when the command is sent through the macro that commands are not executed.
This happens only on the samsung products. (blu-ray and combo units) the marantz always works and the "listen to CD" and "Listen to radio" always switch the pioneer to CD and TUNER respectively with no problems.
I tried adding a 0.2 sec delay and sending the input switching commands twice but it did not help.
Any ideas?

maybe use a longer delay............

try adjusting the repeats....

try adjusting the output screws on the RP-6.......

I have never had this problem, but that would be where I would start if the commands work individually...

hope that helps

Is the macro a list of commands from the remote, or is it a system macro? (Programmed into the RP6?)
Are you using flags?
I agree with checking the delay times, for switching and playing with repeats can sometimes help.

Also confirm in your macro that the commands are coming out of the correct ports on the RP6. It's easy to just jump around and add commands to a macro but forget to set which port they should come out of.

It is not a system macro, and I am using flags to check if the the unit is already on to prevent a power toggle command if it is but the input switch is outside of the flag check. I will try playing with delays repeats and IR power screws and report back

Thanks!

I would put the flags in a system macro and test them there. That way there is no worry about the remote keeping track of any thing. You may wont to get a video sensing unit to test the receivers on status.

I personaly HATE FLAGS with a passion and will do whatever I can to avoid useing them
Don't read my answer. Someone else will go into great detail as to why I am wrong rather than answer the original question...

All issues are resolved!
There was one bad flasher, one port turned off in the RP6, and I added a 0.2 sec delay between the input switch to the power on/off flag check. Between the lot of problems it was a long but eventualy productive day!

Thanks again for the pointers

A quick way to test flashers is use a digital camera from your cell phone and you can see them blink a white light in the phone

I will always try that if something seems weird from the start..checking the ir flasher is working

glad to see you are up and running
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.
