Sorry, double post
If i'm reading their manual correctly this piece doesn't offer onscreen display of meta data. Am i wrong about that? If it doesn't why should i use one of these over say an Escient FP-1 or for that matter any iPod dock available? The inwall factor is cool but other then that it doesn't seem to offer any real benefit. Maybe i'm missing something, maybe not? What do you guys think of the iport?
What brought this up is a client who i inherited swore up and down that he used to be able to see his music on screen. After much time reading the manual, playing with 2 different ipods and basically wanting to just throw the thing out of the window he still insists that he could move thru his music somehow. From what i can tell it will pass photos and video but thats it.

No on screen GUI. They've been promising one for over a year... I'm not holding my breath.
I really seems like Sonance has thrown in the towel...

Check out the Marantz iPod dock. I have one at home and like it alot. It has S-Video or Composite out. It will also do rs-232. It's about the same price as the iPort.
