Has anyone tested the XP-8 and multiple users useing there remotes at the same time? I know th RP-6 was first come first serve(only one remote can talk to it at one time) heck for that matter only one remote can talk at all at one time.

Reason I ask is this is a big deal for me. I have a job coming up were I am integrating 20 T2-Cs into an AMX system. One remote for each touchscreen in each room. The job is going to be pretty kick ass and I dont want to have to tell the client that there may be some remotes acting unresponive just because there is someone else using there remote.

Before anyone asks, I am useing the T2-C instead of the Amx handheld because of funtionality, price, and all around look.
Don't read my answer. Someone else will go into great detail as to why I am wrong rather than answer the original question...

If you're worried about collisions you can use the AMX RF receivers and have the T2-C send RF commands to them, that way the AMX controller handles all the incomming commands.

Tha Amx Rf Ant limits me to only 255 commands and alot of extra programming. I did think of that but thought my way would be more reliable,if it works.

I don't think the issue is processor related at all. All of the remotes all talk on the same frequency. Only one person (remote) can talk at a time. This same also applies even if you have multiple xp8s or rp6s.... ie...having different IDs doesn't fix the problem....it's still the same frequency.....

The 255 channel limitation can be overcome with some programming, I wouldn't say a lot, once you've done it for one remote it should be fairly similar for all of them. Both ways of doing things have limitations.

I did think of that but thought

I don't see how one would be more reliable then the other, in both instances you're using one-way remotes with a two-way system, so you've already sacrificed some amount of reliability.

I was told by RTI that the XP-8 would be able to multi task. Have multiple users at once controling things.

From my understanding (which could be wrong), it can multi-task but only has one IR processor so it can only issue one IR code at a time so it could appear that it didn't work when really it may just take a few more seconds.

I am now torn on how to go about this. I may just suck it up and use the 433 ant. and do the programming that way. I way only going to use the rs-232 ports off the XP-8 to communicate with the AMX. 1 or 2 ports just to break it up. I dont know now.

Right....but there's a difference between multitasking and multiple remotes communicating on the same frequency at the same time. I'm certainly not an expert, but the same remotes can/are being used for the xp8s as were used for the rp6s. Therefore same frequency. So if someone is ramping up volume for example....no one else in the house is going to be able to talk on the same frequency while the volume button is being held down on the other remote. Now, that being said....if you trigger a system macro that runs for 5-10 seconds, you should certainly be able to trigger something else during this time from another remote as long as the xp8 can multitask both macros.

My $02....

I hate to advise it(because I hate IR), but why not use an AMX IR receiver in each room? That way, the RTI programming on all the T2s is essentially the same. This would also allow any remote in any room to work in any room you take it into. If one goes dead, just grab one from another room. This fixes your overlap issue and I have the feeling the savings in the RTI programming will offset the additional AMX programming.
