I just got a call form a client that has 2 k3s on 2 seperate systems and he claims both are locked up.

Any ideas?

I'm thinking maybe I never disabled the front IR and something is freakin it out.

any other possiblilites?

He might have found an error in the programming that "locked him out". I have done this once or twice where I had an error in my page flips and it got stuck on the please wait screen.

I have only had one lock up on me and it was a k4. I just reset it and it has never happened again.

The good thing is that he can reset it easily.

i went to the jobsite today and for sure, both kps are locked but both at different screens.

i reboot and all is well.

i call tech support and they say huh? wha? try new firmware.

i did and all seems well BUT i added a new scrolling list prior to firmware and all the icons in the existing lists disappeared and needed to rekey in. Tech support says huh? just reinsert them.

Stupid to say the least.

I'm wondering if the voltage is alittle to high for the keypads. I used RTIs 16v PSs. Could a power surge up the voltage enough to lock them up?

Not trying to be rude, but are you sure there are no errors in programming? What pages are they locked up on?

Are these new installs or ones that have been out there for a while?

Of the 3 so far.

One locked up on the home page - been installed for almost a year

One locked up on source selection - installed since Sept

One locked up on channel selection in scrolling list - Install Sept

I find it very bizarre that all 3 have worked 100% for almost a year THEN all 3 lock up on the same day. The programming for them is rather simple. Maybe 13 or 14 pages.

I wonder if its some clock/date error or something. None have internet service run to them.

I have just started having issues with K4's after a long reprieve, these units have performed over a year of faithful no problem service, then all of a sudden they are locking up unexpectedly, they are actually freezing up the whole system. The only commonality I find with this problem is the Ethernet, or the power supply?

I use these now...
[Link: digitaloggers.com]

The CB-4 is connected to this as is the RP6. Something locks or freezes... power cycle from a web browser.

I believe it is a May day software bug.

I've had three clients call (2 - T2c; 1 - T3) and all have been turned off/on to reboot. All in the past week.
