Hello All,

I was wondering if there is a way to get the above listed background out of ID6? I am looking to manipulate it by adding a floorplan of my house over part of it, but I don't want to make the floorplan a button. I want the ability to add transparent buttons over the background so that I can control lights in a room, or even make that a page that I could pick a certain room for control of audio/video equipment in (via page links).

Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance

Import the floor plan into id6 place over chosen background, right click the floor plan select edit properties under button option check the box for Inactive (will not respond to button presses). At this point the floor plan will not respond like a button; now add any button or graphic right click the graphic or button and select delete bitmap now place the invisible button over the area you would like to use as a button on the floor plan.

The graphics can't be remove because they are embedded in id6 do a search in this forum there have been users that have used a bitmap ripper to remove some of the embedded graphics.

Hey now, ibtucky...

You did not mention which one you need, but here are both... The graphics are actually pretty easy to get out of ID6!

Joey,

The second one is the one I was looking for, thank you very much for posting it for me. Could you tell me what program you used or how you did that?

Designermike,

Thank you for the instructions on making this work. I will be working on this tonight and will post how it turns out.

Again thank you both.

Ibtucky

How do you extract the graphics from .bmp files? Have any bitmap rippers been proven effective?

I have seen other threads where other members mention bitmap rippers, although I do not use them, I prefer CS3.

For something simple, such as the background images, you could even do a screen capture / crop with any image editing program.

Here's the simple way. Once a button has been dragged into the work area, you can right click and select copy. Then open any bitmap editor and select paste or paste as new image.

This works great for backgrounds because they have no transparent sections. If you do this with the .png format icons or buttons, the transparent and semi-transparent areas will show as black.
