I have a T2-C/RP-6 controlling (among other things) a Denon AVR-887 and DirecTV H20. I have port 6 of the RP-6 feeding down a Cat5 to the direct IR input jack of the denon receiver, then the IR out jack has an IR flasher which is on the front of the H20.

Everything works flawlessly, EXCEPT that when I do volume up or down for the denon receiver, the H20 gets some stray "1"s sent to it. I'm using the AVR2807 (Clean) codeset.

Ever heard of anything like this??

Not sure, but I would recommend just using a connecting block.

you could try the connecting block and if the problem persists try using different ports on the rp6 for each device and set your ir routing. You could also try the output gain adjustment since you arent using a connecting block you could be over/underpowering your ir input.
Hey, thats a nice plasma, you can put that in the back of my truck...

True. Shockingly, the thing I'm trying that I've never done before isn't working right... and I didn't think to do it the way I know it should work...

Just trying to eliminate parts in the cabinet. Ah well...

It doesn't happen if I only connect the flasher to the H20 and disconnect the denon. I hooked up a connecting block and I thought that fixed it, but it's still doing it a bit. It's almost as if the denon is interfering somehow. It probably is a voltage issue, I've just never seen a device receive a specific stray command like a "1". I already used the High Out on the RP-6 for routing to some other gear. Looks like I'll be running more wire!

I have controlled several DTV boxes with various Denon AVRs with no issue, however, I have always routed the IR on different ports. The 2807 (clean) profile was one of my contributions and I can say that it comes from a tried and true collection of clean Denon codes that have worked flawlessly on many AVRs so, unless there is something going on with the processor's issue of the code, I doubt it is somehow flawed.

I would try to see if the problem can be reproduced by using the native Denon remote pointed at the DTV box.

Perhaps there is something similar in part of the code string of the Denon-Sharp protocol that is similar enough to the Russound (as it is deemed by the IRtool application) protocol of the DTV box... but I doubt it.

Perhaps the DTV box IR receiver is somehow flawed making it more sensitive to interference... but I doubt it.

Perhaps the entire RTI system needs to be reloaded to see if trigger codes are getting crossed or if codes are remaining on the processor despite either being previously erased from a macro or having been automatically reassigned to a new trigger???

It's pretty odd. I had the system controlled standalone with just IR coming out of the T2C with no problems. I had the IR flasher on the DTV rcvr without the Denon, changed the output to the RP-6 and no problems. As soon as I hook up the Denon (either through the IR in/IR out jacks or through a connecting block, or just with the wires all spliced together) I get that stray "1". I don't think it's the codes at all. I'm going to have to get another wire over there and run it off of another port on the RP-6. I've already used every single conductor I have going to the cabinet already. :)

i would try separating the devices to different ports ont hge rp6 and route the IR, the denon codes never get to the diectv emitter and the directv codes never get to the denon emitter.

I think it is more likely a caused by interference, and not necessarily going to be fixed by getting another wire there. Definitely try it outside the wall before you run the cable.

I have similar issues sometimes with my T2C and XP8 combo when i get on the outside range of the RM433. Sometimes the DTV box will get random numbers or when I key a number it will just keep repeating that number for a while. I have not really troubleshooted it much, because its my own home and i have not felt like messing with it once I get home. How far away from the RM433 are you? Try getting right by it and see if you still have the issues.

Just another thing to check. I Could be completely wrong.
