Have an interesting system concept trying to conceive. Client has Panasonic Analog Phone System with Gate Station Pushbutton.

Other pieces in Home Theater Room: Denon AVR4308ci, RTI T3/RP6, Escient DVD Changer Controller.

Client Needs: Assuming he was in theater room, and "Fire" Department was at gate..and he cannot hear phone... he wants when someone pushes button @ gate, that the Denon Receiver would automatically go to the Camera Input so that he could see who is @ gate....and DVD Pauses.

Any help you all can give to a novice programmer, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
James

What would be the easiest to do is add a Xantech 590-10(or something like that) that will learn a Hex code, Then create a System macro on your RP-6...say "gate trigger"

What the Xantech will do is act as an intermediate piece...Gate push button will feed into Xantech, Xantech will send your System trigger you learned into the RP-6 and run your gate trigger macro doing the receiver mute, goto cam input and pause dvd.

you would have to have him repeat the dvd input as the remote wouldnt know it switched to the gate cam, or add a delay to the gate trigger and then have it reselect dvd input do a vol command and play again after 15 seconds and you would be back where you were

I did a system about a year ago where an Over temp alarm triggered a system shut down then checked for a over temp voltage which would disconnect the power to the system until it was cooled enough to operate safely again
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

Replace the RP6 with an XP8 (RTI's new processor if you haven't heard of it)

It has the ability to trigger macros and/or send commands, via some new event types:

Contact closure or voltage trigger
Astronomical clock

You could easily accomplish this with the XP-8
...couple a thumb tacks and a stick of double sided tape should hold this baby up...
