Hi All

I've been using RTI kit for just over a year or so now and I have to say it makes everything else I have ever used (Pronto, Marantz, etc) seem like hobbyist rubbish by comparison!

Anyway, my problem (my first EVER RTI problem) is that my IR Pro seems to be struggling with a particular remote, a Future Automation Picture Lift remote, to be specific.

I've tried to learn the code and it says it learns okay, but when I try and use the code on the equipment, it doesn't work at all. The captured IR frequency is 38k, incase that helps anyone with troubleshooting.

The original remote of course works fine. I've even tried re-learning the codes from the RTI remote into the IR Pro, but the hex code looks quite different to the original learned codes. I've made sure that I'm not learning the codes in front of a plasma, by a bright window, etc.

What is even stranger is that I got the RC5 codes from the manufacturer and used 'IR Doctor' to convert them (http://www.ir-toolkit.com/) and it still didn't work, although the code showed up in the RTI library as a valid code. The codes seem to be standard NEC codes by the way.

In the end I've given up and put in an RP6 so I can use contact closures, but I'd like to work this strange problem out nevertheless, if anyone can help?

Thanks in anticipation!

PS - here is an example of a non-working converted RC5 Code that I got from the manufacturer, incase it helps?

Two Things

Are you sure it is not a toggle bit code? Secondly, it may have a wild hi frequency like B&O that requires some tinkering to get right

I had a similar problem with an Auton lift a few years back. I ended up sending the module back and getting the contact closure version. Never had the time to troubleshoot the IR issue. Going with contact closure is the right way to go anyway...

you are using the new F.A. control box which has USB, network and direct IR inputs, are you not? chances are you have the .1 version of firmware. contact F.A. they are aware of this issue with their new box and RTI. very sure later version of firmware cures it.

Thanks very much for the info and sorry about the tardiness of my reply. I'll get in touch with FA and get that firmware updated.

Thanks!

Recently had a similar problem getting the codes for some window shutters into my MX-3000. The original remote would work every time but my MX-3000 would only work about 25% of the time. Turns out the shutters required a sustained burst of the code. Learning the code wasn't actually the problem at all although that's what I initially thought. You might try programming your RTI remote to either allow you to hold down a button to send the code until the button is released or to have the button simply send the code multiple times. In the case of my shutters they wouldn't work 100% reliably unitl I programmed each button to send the code 21 times.

If you still have a Pronto....

The TS1000 and the IR-PRO are the best IR learners I have ever used, and so far I find them equal. It would be worthwhile trying to teach these commands to a TS1000 to see if it's finally better than the IR-PRO at something.

I have nothing else good to say about the TS1000 nowadays. Its dimness and only two really usable levels of color -- black and white -- render it nearly useless.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I would try to see if you get a different hex code by aiming the teacher and learner in about a 45 degree angle. You'll be surprised that this sometimes gives you a more defined hex code.
