No manufacturer can keep their product of ebay.

I have never had a customer question my price on RTI product.

Note, RTI corp is a member of the ebay VERO program, but it requires them to contact ebay in each instance to have the adds removed

You forgot the IRPRO which is dealer only, I contacted all of the offenders. Note that some of them now say that the software is dealer exclusive.

David that is interesting as the Vero program doc I have read indicates eBay is supposed to do this more automatically than that.

They may not have actually filled a Vero document. The eBay Vero program as explained by eBay provides "proactive monitoring" of the "banned" logos or trademarks.

Vero-certified manufacturers are urged to provide a website on eBay which explains their position and anyone who posts an item using "resticted logos or trademarks" are sent to that manufacturers web site, once their ad has been removed by ebay, within the Vero program. I did not see RTI on the eBay list of manufacturers.

So, I think RTI is making a case-by-case argument to have the offending listings removed. That is a good thing and more power to them. However, the Vero program indicates it will "proactively" monitor for ads using intellectual property. I take this to mean that RTI would not have to contact eBay, each time they want to object to an ad on eBay.

OK, I've kept my mouth shut long enough...

Let me first say that I don't want RTI remotes whored out on eBay for one reason, and one reason only. I don't want people buying them and screwing them up, and intern giving them a bad name in the eyes of my perspective customers. As several people have mentioned before, anyone who is going to buy an RTI remote on eBay is NOT my customer to begin with. I have sold several hundred RTI remotes and keypads without a single customer saying to me "I found that remote on eBay for $XXX.XX".

As for ddarch, I sat back and watched the whole IP debacle and wrote it off as just stupid. I'm drawing the line here. Judging from your web site, YOU are an online dealer. YOU are a direct competitor to nearly everyone on this site. YOU are getting more free advertising on this site than anyone (reaching more of your core customer) without paying for anything (that I'm aware of). Why should any of us want to pick up your fight?

Your signature has a link to your website, and maybe that's all the disclosure you need. I'm not buy'n it, not for a second. The person that has more to gain from this fight, than anyone here, is you. While the rest of us continue on with business as usual, helping each other out and not whining about eBay every five minutes, RTI does a pretty good job of policing eBay. Send your links to them, instead of coming and getting everyone here all riled up.

There, I've said my piece. Back to business as usual.

Andy,

Noticed the banners? Dave pays to advertise here. I think he even posted the amount once.

If I many add (and Dave no offense here - I mean this in the best possible way), Dave's pricing is not low enough to put anyone out of business. He is well within the realm of the standard pricing charged to consumers. I have puchased items from Dave that were either not available at my distributer or I was in a bind and I paid well above the MSRP.
