Hello all,

I have two questions about pool and spa control.

1. Has anybody here ever programed and controlled pool and spa equipment from Jandy with RTI?

2. Does anybody have some screen shots of a RTI remote that they are using to control pool and spa equipment?

thanks,

Although controlling pool equipment doesn't work very well without 2way, we had a customer that insisted we connect his K4's to his Pentair(similar to Jandy) pool controller. We basically allowed for underwater light control, jet and waterfall pump on/off and an "all off" that turned all non-maintainence pumps and lights off.

I have done the same thing as above. The gui was nothing special, just stock buttons that said what it did. Pool lights on, pool lights off. I used 2 T-4s and a Rp-6. the strings were easy to follow. I am not sure if they are in the Mega list or not.
Don't read my answer. Someone else will go into great detail as to why I am wrong rather than answer the original question...

For now that is what I planned on doing. I have the Jandy commands and they do seem simple to follow. I'm thinking of just being able to turn on/off pumps, cleaners, heaters, lights, and waterfalls. I was also going to have preset temperature set points for the pool and spa.

Now the question for the future. If and when RTI can make 2way communication work, the Jandy query commands are just as simple as the action commands to follow. With 2way, is there more too it than just entering and using the query commands on a button to get system feed back like temperature and what the system is currently set at? Or is 2way going to involve for extensive programing like creating special pages like RTI has done with the Escient screen, web browser and cameras?

I would think it would be a periodic polling that would update the gui as needed. ie: if you had pool temp, hot tub temp, and status of a few pumps on your gui, the xp8 would ask the Jandy those queries every few seconds and send the data along to the K4.
