Try A Terk FM 50 uhf/ vhf antenna. This is the answer everyone has been looking for. In the last 3 system's we installed 2 terk fm 50 and it works like a charm.

Mike,

Is that the huge terk antenna that looks like a 2x4? That thing sells for about $100. Where are you mounting them? Are they in plain view or would it be possible to have them mounted behind an entertainment center at a fairly low height (4ft).

I am using a split between the original rf antenna and a amplified table-top fm ant with mixed results. The range is about the same but "most" of the null spots have been eliminated. If a straight Terk 50 mounted behind my stuff would work flawlessly, I might consider it.

For the record though, for the amount I have spent on this remote, I shouldn't have to buy a $100 antenna to make it work properly.

PS. Bill this comment is not aimed at you. You have been more than helpful. RTI should have tested their RF package better.

I would have jumped in and extolled the virtues of the Terk, but I recommended this to caller that had a reception problem. He went out and eagerly bought the FM Pro50 and it did very little for him, although he said his FM tuner works fantastic with it. I also had a customer that added a simple cheap antenna booster between the Antenna and the IRF-6 and he gets phenomenal reception.
I agree that nobody should have to be doing this stuff, and the vast majority doesn’t. But you must admit the remote is nice enough that it is worth the effort to get it right.
