I am having a $HI+ load of issues with ID6.1 on my laptop.
Windows XP SP2 3.0G processor 2 G of ram and after about an hour or so... the system resources goes to 100% doing things like drag and drop or pasting commands. It slows to the point where I hit Ctrl V and wait up to 10 seconds before I see the results on screen. Its annoying the crap out of me.
Yesterday I loaded a file onto a K3 with a camera object and the emulator crashed every time I tried to use it.
The camera object was for a pansonic and on the first page of the config. I loaded it into the K3 and could not use the links at the bottom of the page. Next thing I know I got a windows error from the K3 itself. "Fatal Application Error." After which I could not upload to the K3 on the network. Hooking up to the unit via USB... had to reload the firmware. Then download my config sans camera before it booted all the way. What a pain in the...
Anyways the same camera comes up fine on the K4 in the next room.
But back to the main bitch... I guess I need another laptop just to use ID 6.1. The bogging down frustrates the crap out me.
But let me put the system in perspective....
2RP6s (Had to change after we confirmed that that the XP8 had an unacceptable LAG)
2K4s
2k3s
4T2cs
Every T2c can control any zone in the house.
The K4s do 4 zones each
and the K3s are 1 and and 2 a piece.
There is a ton of graphic work in the file and more serial then I like to deal with.
Basically I have resorted to saving the file and shutting down the program every so often. When it comes back up its fine for a while. But the more things I am trying to do... the sooner it slows to a crawl. When it does I check the task manager and there is ID6 pegging system processes at 100%.
I have a mac Mini down stairs that is more of a toy to me then anything else. But you guys seems to swear by MACs.
Maybe I just need a dual core system to keep ID6 happy.
Also...
Something I am learning the hard way is that the editor has some odd quirks.
I have 2 RP6s in the system I am working now. Editor tells me that the code is going out Port 1 of RP6 Beta (2). Everything in the editor is set right about this. From output tab to output port. I press the button and SURE AS $HI+ it comes out port one of RP6 Alpha (1). I try all sorts of things to fix it... but what it takes.
Delete the code and then set the properties and then the output port... then put the actually command back in there. Then it works.
