I am sorry for the stupid question but it has been a long day and I have to clear this in my mind. When using RS232 for controlling Dennon AVRs, do you have to send a standby command before the on command for the AVR to start accepting RS232 codes? I remember reading somewhere that you have to send PWSTANDBY/r when the receiver is on in order for the receiver to start accepting the commands. I am bit confused with this. When do we have to do this? How long does the AVR remember the standby command so that it will respond by serial to the on command? What happens when the mains cuts off?

Basically I would like to know if the receiver will power on using only the PWON/r command.

Sorry if my post is not clear but it has been a very long day...

Just turn the receiver on manually, then send the off command. Then it works like a charm...

Also beware that some models will not respond unless you connect a ground wire between the RP6 and the receiver (phono ground lug works fine).

Is this a process that you only do once when you first set the thing up for RS232?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Yeap, it seems weird. Do your programming and manually turn on the receiver. Just hit your system off first. Then you are off to the races...
