I am always testing and trying new things on my home system.
My wife hates it, she told me she would "divorce my sorry ass" if I didn't leave it alone because she just got used to it.

Good thing that the Serial database will be available in the next software update, then we can start pooling serial commands, to add to that list.
So I came up with the original "mega list", and passed the torch to Glac after 4 years. I am sure he will get burnt out eventually. & Someone else will pick it up.
OK, contest time, what are we going to call the new RS232 list? And who is going to volunteer to compile it?

Dave is the Man for creating the original lists, I will pass it back one day.
the 232 list could be called "Mega 232 List 1" for 232 and "Mega Code List 15" for IR kinda keeping it like the original list name is

I imagine the 232 list will be a much easier venture than the IR list since 232 is actually documented (well most of the time).
I laugh sometimes at the idea that IR is the prevelant control method in use. Mysterious protocols to all but a few curious idiots with plenty of time on their hands :), secondary formats, capturing codes, binary and hex conversion and interpretation, corruptability, inconsistant implementation, frequencies out of the norm, harware variations, no documentation standards, shall I continue???

How odd is that? Are there any other products that need this procedure?

Are there any other products that need this procedure? How odd is what exactly? I am not sure which post you are referencing. BTW... you have mail. It was not my intention to deny or claim credit. If it seemed so I do apologize.

I must be missing something. Where do the .irp files come from? .irp files come from the sky when the almighty johnsfine deems it so. They are simple text documents that provide the needed specifications for John's Makehex program to produce a list of codes based on a specific protocol and device number. There are many provided with the download of Makehex. John occasionally revises or adds to the collection.

Got it. I'll have to re-visit this topic when my brain is less cloudy.
Anytime I have to run a program from command prompt it makes me want to take a nap...
