does anybody have any good information on converting codes from manufacturer documentss into hex codes ready for pasting into an rti ir file. say for instance, the denon codes for a avr3808, it does not give the info in a format i can use. i am very proficient in programming and freqently use rs232 when i can but i have never learned how to manage this aspect of remote prograaming. i know i see alot about makehex o i am going to try to find it in a minute and start to play. thanks in advance

The Denon code generation and the use of make hex has been documented countless times here on RC. A few simple searches will produce many results. I have provided a complete list of 3808 codes for ID1 for the release of mega list 15 which will be available soon.

Since there's such a huge history of doing this with the Prontos, the Pronto Fora are a good place to start. Look for posts by johnsfine, who has described the process lots and lots of times, starting with different kinds of data from different manufacturers. He also tells what sort of information is incomplete and therefore can't be converted to IR.

Because the truth has a good taste to it.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
