The IRF-6 works flawlessly for my AV equipment, but I do not get the same reliability with the combination of an IRF-6 and an IR543. I tried all I could to eliminate noise problems. My house is brand new, I installed a noise blocker, amplified phase coupler, plug noise filters, yadayadayada. But every so often an X10 dimmer simply will not respond to my T2 commands. Only after I execute a macro that turns them all ON or OFF will I get a response again.

I am not sure if this problem is caused by the IRF-6, or because of these el-crappo IR543 units. Or perhaps these Leviton dimmers get confused on occasion. Nonetheless, I sure would like to see an X10 plugin for the IRF-6, capable of putting some kick-ass X10 signals on the line.

Anyone else?

Arjen,

I don't think it's your IR543 or your IRF-6. I am using my IRF-6 with an Applied digital Ocelot which is a very good IR to X10 unit. I am having a similar problem where I need to reset my X10 lamp modules with an off/on signal. I am thinking that some how there is noise on my lines that is causing the address code not to get interpreted correctly. I am armed with the Monterey instruments signal analyzer though, and plan to figure out just what is going on over the holidays. I do know that my PCS switches that dim with a single command all work flawlessly, so this is why I think there is something going on between the time the address is sent and when the command is sent. I will report back what I find, I will also try out an IR543 to see if behaves any differently.

Speaking of the "IRF-543", RTI should really get a plug-in X-10 adaptor module to market. :-)

Arjen,

I could not find any problem using the T2 with X10 that was not the fault of the programmer, me! I did notice some signal collision when the T2 was set to send multiple the X10 command multiple times. If you would like, E-mail me and I will loan you my signal analyzer while I am away for CES next week, as long as you return within a few days. It really is the only way to figure out just what exactly is going on with your system.

Bill!

That is awfully nice of you. I am going to decline your offer as I would hate to see your analyzer get shipped to Burundi by accident, but perhaps one of these day I will buy an analyzer from you.

Thanks for the offer man! Very cool.

Have fun at CES (<-envious)
