My HD-Tivo and HD-DVD don't have thier composite video ouptuts active while using thier component outputs. I'd like to set up a video preview of them on a K4 touchpanel. My preamp has a 2nd zone that I can duplicate the component inputs....but it's obviously not a composite signal. What are others doing to preview on a K4 or other touchpanel?? Is there a simple way to transcode component to compostie?

Try this,

It's probably more than you wanted to spend for that particular feature but it'll work.

I have a similar need and have been looking for a solution. The issue is the cost of the devices would work are out of the budget.

THose componant converters are pricey. We installed 3 in a house about 1 year ago and have had to replace 2 of them so far. They just died. Might have been a bad batch but none the less it cost a bunch to fix.
Don't read my answer. Someone else will go into great detail as to why I am wrong rather than answer the original question...

Can't say from experience what the quality is, but this is definitely cheaper than the other options

Does your AVR down-convert the monitor output?
