On the samsungs I have found that if you are using HDMI even with a discrete code it wont go to that input unless a source is connected and on, we had an issue with a DVD player, had to power on the DVD player first and get it playing then power on TV and select input then it was ok, if tv wasnt ready or DVD wasnt playing it always defaulted to last input

Had us confused at first until we saw what it was doing. then reworked a few macros to correct the issue
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

Thanks for the tip. Now that you mentioned this I remembered this behavior when we first hooked the set up. Saved me some troubleshooting time.

For the DLP TV's, what do you do to control it. i.e. do you use an emitter or just send the IR codes from the remote? If you do use an IR sensor, where do you put it? Thanks

TGRUGETT,

I have downloaded those codes and some other I have found and will try them all.

We usually open up the sets and place the emitter inside, only takes 5-10 minutes and with the emoitter inside we dont have to worry about a blocked code from the remote

I assume you have to unscrew from the back and the receiver is somewhere in the front?

Samsungs also have a funky little quirk that I have found in a few different models. Once in a while, if you are using something like the "2006 Discretes" set, inputs will cycle even if you are using a discrete input code.

For example, if I have a macro that goes something like this:
Samsung 2006 DLP Discretes: HDMI
Change to page: Comcast
etc.

... if I do that twice in a row, on a few samsungs it will cycle to the next input. I have also found this with VGA on a few. So, the discretes work as long as it wasn't on the input you are trying to switch to before you sent the command.

In these cases, you must make a flag that is something like "VGA Input" and have it set and check the flag every time you go to a source that uses that input. Then, you have any other button that will change the input clear the flag, so the remote knows it may send out the VGA or HDMI discrete without fear of the TV cycling off of that input.
