I heard from a "certain" dealer rep this week, he assures me that they are currently QC'ing the product and it should be available right on schedule....

I don't know if "right on schedule" means January or May!

I heard from one of the RTI guys at EHX at the beginning of the month they would be out next week. As in 3 weeks ago...

Glad I have not specked one into a job yet...

I have three jobs that I've spec'd in XP8's for. One for a restaurant that opens next Friday. I'm going to have to put two RP6's in and swap them out when the XP8 gets released.
Who says you can't put 61" plasmas up on cantilever mounts using toggle bolts? <---Thanks Ernie ;)

We've had one spec'd into a job for several months... The job is coming up pretty soon, and the XP8 may come in just in time. If not I'm going to put two RP6 units in temporarily.

I once heard that you can tell which ones are the pioneers by the arrows in their backs. Why would you spec something before its initial installer-banging-head-against-wall-trying-to-make-the-little-F#@ker-work period? Hasn't Windows taught you anything?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Just out of curiosity, what are two RP6's going to do that one can't? Unless you are controlling more than 6 identical components, you should be able to make due with one.

I will add them to the Mega list, and send them into RTI as well

That depends on several things, such as how many rs 232 devices are you controlling. Do you need to port address several sat or cable boxes? Further, things happen faster & more efficiently if you are addressing system macros on multiple RP-6 modules

Most of my big jobs have 3 to 5 Rp-6 modules in the main rack, why? Well for instance I have a customer with 11 plasma TV's 9 sat boxes dual XM radio, Xperinet server and clients, 16 zone A/V switcher, a 16 camera matrix switcher. RS232 thermostats, lighting control, motorized blinds and so forth, I also usually have 3 - 5 CB4 connecting blocks

On the flip side, if it is just a basic theater, then 1 RP-6 is plenty

This job has 8 TV's, another 6 TV's pre-wired, K4, 5 RK1-8's, 8 Cable Boxes, 4 Sat Boxes, 2 DVD players, and a partridge in a pear tree. The biggest reason I want the XP8 is for two-way for updating from the office.
