I have no problem with Flagging a button to check the status of a flag for a command.

Check Flag from Kitchen
Repeat While held___
Sony Volume +
____________
Stop macro

Check Flag from Office
Repeat While held____
Sharp Aquos Volume +

This works perfect in IR.

IN serial I have to call a system macro as a button can't be stand alone and directly call a serial command....

I have set the button to sustain while held
I have set the Sys Macro to repeat

Insted of getting a constant output at the port... I get Pop Pop Pop. So the command is slow.

Any ideas

I am calling the Volume command from a system macro that check the status of which room the remote is supposed to talk to via flags.

What if you just have the macro set to repeat and not set the button to sustain. I would think using the repeat until button is released command would be enough and that both are causing some sort of stutter.

Do you have the command to "repeat until released" possibly set inside the system macro as well as on the standalone button.

I've run into this. Unfortunately, any RS232 command, located in a macro, will have a delay between repeats. Its like the built in .3 delay between IR commands.... except you can't get rid of it.

I'd use two sets of pages, one for the kitchen and one for the office.... otherwise, you are hooped.
...couple a thumb tacks and a stick of double sided tape should hold this baby up...

Could you explain this a bit? I see the macros but I don't get what they do. Looks interesting, maybe wonderful, but I don't get it. Thanks.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Well Fluid was right...

It took a bunch of calls to RTI and went all the way up the chain... "Sorry you just can't do this in the current software." So we redesigned it.

With a finite number of pages... when you have enough zones you can't add in enough pages to control everything. What I did was flag the remote so the source pages had a check flag for volume control. This let me make the sources pages 1 time and the zones all referred to these pages. The trick is getting the remote to issue a command to the rp-6 to send a volume command based on the flag.

With the combo of the ADA and a built in break between sustains on system macros... it worked too slow!!!

Ernie if you want a copy of what we threw out I have a copy on my laptop...

Thanks, but I just want a bit of an explanation of what your goal was. I can't follow what happens or what should happen from what I've read here.

1 remote
16 zones
11 sources

Sources need 15 pages. Between all the commands they need to issue.

Now if you have a homepage for each source... Kitchen, Bedroom, Lobby etc. Wich links you to the sources...

Now like I said there are 15 pages for the 11 sources...

15x16=240 pages. Then I still needed:
2 pages for the top of the directory to pick which room you are in
16 pages. 1 for each zone to list all the sources.

Now what I did with flags is whack that 240 pages to 15 by using flags to track which room was picking the sources. This works because the 11 sources are shared throughout all the zones. The only thing that needs to change is the volume commands depending on what room you are standing in.
