hi all,

i have searched the forum and there seems to be no know issues with rti and vista. i just purchased an hp running vista ultimate and my remotes are not recognized at all. i have tried the driver update that come with verion 5.1 of theatertouch and still does not work. i used the RTIusb_install driver and i do not understand what is going down with everything. all i know is i am not a fan of vista at the moment. everything was working great on xp.

any suggestions?

thanks,

serky

RTI works fine on Vista. I haven't had problems to date.
I don't care for Vista either ...just takes a bit of getting used to.

I had the same problem when i updated from 4.2. Reboot your computer do not run any other programs. Try to connect now. Sounds like the usb drivers need to be reloaded

thanks Seatoskytech,

i have tried that several times and whenever i connect the t3, i get
installing device driver software
unidentified device searching windows update

then i get windows couldn't find a driver for your device
asks me to: have windows search for a solution or install drivers by browsing for a file on my computer.

i have tried both and neither works.

seems so easy but there is a quirk somewhere.

install USB drivers by browsing for a file on my computer:

point it to the Theater Touch program

I had the same issue on one of the office laptops, I un-installed the program completely, re-installed the new Theater Touch from the dealer site, then I plugged the T2-C into a different USB port and it recognized it....

Sounds odd, but it worked!

As for the other 4 office Vista lappies, no problem!

As for my beast, no problems.....

I hate to say it, but to me and many of my co workers, Vista is one of the most problematic OS I have ever tried: I know several people who have stopped using Vista because it is so full of issues

my next step was to go back to XP

Have you tried cleaning the registry to force the drivers to be reinstalled?

With USB devices in windows, once they are plugged in, the device is written to the registry. When it is unplugged, that information remains there.

You would run regedit, and then look in the Local Machine/System/CurrentControlSet/Enum path. On my system RTI is Vid_13bd&Pid_0020 (This should be the same for all RTI devices). You could try killing off this key and then reinstalling. You may have to set permissions to delete the key (On the main menu).

Make sure you have the software that the PC came with and goto the hardware profiles and delete the USB ports competely. Restart and reinstall the USB ports on the laptop then reinstall RTI software. Are you using the same USB cord? Do other devices work? Cameras, harmony remote, etc?

other devices work fine. i rather not delete all the ports because everything else works fine and would hate to lose that. if i can just delete the rti drivers liken the previous post by duckwood recommended, that would be great. i just need to know if delete the whole Vid_13bd&Pid_0020 folder or something else.

thanks,

serky

Might be an obvious question, but are you running Vista x86 or x64, as the drivers won't work on x64...

x86, what can i do from here? i just started using vista so besides the whole rti issues, it seems more difficult to delete files that are my own and logged on as the admin. i am really not liking vista much. that is a different story but can i just delete the Vid_13bd&Pid_0020 folder and uninstall theatertouch? then reinstall it again? i don't want to do damage but i need the driver for the t3 to work.

thanks,

serky
