Crestron Rack 2 processor with 11 COM-3 cards (these are two way RS-232) and a CNRFGWA for RTI remotes. No RP-6 needed.

I did a bar with 6 projection screens 27 50" Plasmas and 1 video wall with 4 plasmas. I looked at 232 to control all plasmas but didn't see the benefit to cost since the only command the TV's need is On and Off and they all had discrete commands. I am also controlling direcTv with IR as well. I did need to run 232 to video wall to control switching it between modes. Overall I used 4 rp6's one K4 and one m2.

I have a pretty extensive k4 program to run this if you would like to take a look!

But i'd follow Homerun's method instead, especially if you are installing "dumb" monitors that only turn on and off.....

Xantech also makes an rs232 splitter/repeater that takes serial in and actively splits/repeats to 3 outs. It is part xovp14. There is a brief blurb on the website but it is in the catalog. They are about a third the price of an rp6 less the cm232's.

I have never used one, but saw it in the catalog the other day and found it interesting.

IR controlled RS232 matrix....
You also spare on CM's )))

BTW, i am not kidding, I had to solve similar problem. 24 232 ports from 1 port of RP6. It works...
