Hey All-
I currently have a Pronto and really enjoy. I do miss the keys that some of the other remotes have. Can any T2 owners give me some features that swayed you to the T2 vs the Pronto. I'm always looking to upgrade (my wife HATES this) and this might be a great upgrade ---> Pronto to T2 ;{>
Thanks!

Try downloading the free design software [Link: rticorp.com] for the T2 and design your remote. I think just going through this exercise, and laying out the buttons and screens will give you a some feel for the difference between the T2 and the Pronto.

Have a T2 myself, and LOVE it. I have only one complaint, and that is the lack of hard buttons for transport controls. But I trust you will find the T2 extremely versatile and easy to program.

You may also want to take a look at the MX-1000. With more hard buttons than a Pronto, and a bigger LCD than the T2, it may be an interesting middle road. Make sure you read the forum posts on the MX-1000, as people have made quite a few remarks on this remote and its software, both positive and negative.

Also search the T2 forum for "Pronto" and you will find several threads that discuss pros and cons.

Bill, Do you pay Daniel a commission or ad fee for every T2 you sell off here? You are alway real infromative in your posts it's too bad, however, you try to use this as free advertising rather than the informational forum it was meant to be. I am sure your a nice guy, but obviously there are ways to go about things. Obviously someone like Etronix has "bucked up" to sponsor this site and keep it going. Maybe you have and we just don't know it, just seems kinda cheesy to have your url on EVERY post.

Having both a T2 and Pronto, I can tell you that the T2 is much more usable than the Pronto. The Pronto can be made made to do cuter things though :-).

All of course IMHO ...

I try to be helpful to customers and non-customers alike. I get calls from people all the time about items that they did not buy from me, and I take the time to help them anyway. Signing my posts with my URL is within the guidelines of the forums. Cheesy or not and I don’t think it is that terrible to let people know who is offering them help. Yes it does lead a person to look at my site, yes that is what I would like them to do. It has also led people to save a lot of money on their T2's and other control products, which I haven’t heard much complaining about. I think the users of the forums can tolerate my URL as long as the advice I am taking the time to give adds some value. Sorry if it offends you.

Sorry, Bill. It doesn't offend me, I just found it a cheesy way to use someone for advertising. Being a businessman yourself, I would think you could see my point. Do you mind if I put links to my business on your site for free?

b,

I do put links on my site for free. I certainly see your point, but see mine also. Of course I would like to buy paid advertising at RC, you have made the assumption that I can. Well I have tried but it is not open site. Daniel has a relationship to maintain with a big sponsor and I respect that. So what is a retailer that want's exposure here to do, I think my approach is reasonable. I would have also preferred to have this conversation off line but you were not willing to offer your e-mail address.

Sorry to blast you publicly. I should have used more discretion. All posts here show you are a stand up guy. Have a great week!

I have tried both the T2 and the Pronto before returning the Pronto. The T2 is an easy to use, full of functionality including hard buttons (which I love), and most of all reliable. When I first got the T2, I was frustrated with its IR capturing ability (i.e. IR windows have to be perfectly aligned to capture the codes). But since then, I have been able to download IR codes from other remotes including the Pronto and life has been wonderful with this remote. If you notice the earlier thread, I was on quite often posting messages and seeking help. But the remote is working perfectly for me now and I rarely post anymore except to express my appreciation for the T2 and the people that make and support them. Final note, if you are the kind of person who just love to tinker and play around and program your remote constantly then get the Pronto. But if you just want a very reliable remote that's full of functionality and easy to use, get the T2. You wont regret it.
Good Luck.......Joe

Do we need to start this over again? I have a free link to Remote Central on my site, and I don't compete with this site.
