I am programming a K4 for a customers 6 zone distributed audio system. I like the premade curacao buttons so I am going to use them. When one of the buttons is pressed, the blue light at the top lights up. What I would like to do is have a "system status" page of sorts that will allow the customer to see which rooms are on from one page by having the button appear reversed if the zone is active. Instead of creating hundreds of pages for all of the combinations of 6 zones and trying to keep track of it all with a complicated system of flag tests (go to page 38 if flags 2,4 and 6 are up, page 52 for flags 3,5, and 6...nightmare!), is there any way to program a button in one page to stay reversed if pressed once and go back to normal if pressed again without going to a different page?

I heard a rumor that dynamic button assignment would be available with the new version of TTD that comes with the XP8. It would coincide with the 2way. But since 2way is further out than the XP8 it may be a while.

mfbarnes...

I did a T4 recently that had several TVs and a flip function. That took flags that had about 25 if than statements. Then it had lots of pages duplicated with just one in the reversed state to indicate active source... it takes a while but it is dooable. And for now its the only way.

If what erik says is true that would really be nice. But also... 2 way could be another year for all we know.

I dont think this is a function that has anything to do with 2-way. It should not be too diffficult to allow a variable to determine if an icon will how it's before or after stage.

For example if system status = Y a small lightening bolt icon appears in the far right.
if system status = N a small ligtening bolt with a slash icon far right.

This shouldn't be a big deal to implement, there are far less expensive controllers that can at least do this...

vbova,
Erik said it would coincide with two-way, not that two-way was necessary to make it happen.

It might obliquely have something to do with two-way in that they might not want to release a completed product with these improvements if they're about to make the big change of introducing two-way but two-way isn't quite ready yet...and they just don't want to make two separate upgrades of software etc.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Bottom line : If the software can remember flag states it should be able to tie buttons to it. This type of fake feedback is better than setting up 40 pages just to see what power is on or not. Is it a priority for RTI to work on fake feedback? No it's not. But, there are several products coming to market with two way control over the next few months and RTI conceivebly wont have anything ready for awhile..

I recently did a 8x8 Key Dig MSW. 7 Sources 9 Displays, I used flags to track which each display chosen source is. It works great but took a LONG time to get right. Cant wait to do the same thing but just poll the device to find out what input output 3 was on, page flip SAT 2. A XP8 will be much cheaper then the hours paid for this.

I heard a rumor

Don't take it too seriously guys. It was told to me by an RTI employee that it was on the horizon but not set in stone.
