Is there any creative way to a press and hold in a RTI macro?

I am trying to replicate the original Tivo remote functionality that allows you to skip to the next bookmark typically 15, 30 minutes. It requires the press and hold for three seconds. From what I can tell, there's no easy way to do it in TT, I might be able to learn the command through the RTI learner, but figured I'd ask first.

Thanks in advance.

you can do a macro that has a Fast Forward than the Advance Button. That will also skip you to the next bookmark.
The macro should look like this
FF
Advance
Play.

Do a play at the end or else it will keep FF

gamer_girl, it sounds like the TiVo itself responds to the long-held command, so it's the same command whether you hold it for a short time or a long time. Be sure repeat is enabled and holding the button down should work.

Which button on the TiVo does this? I never knew about it.

SDZD, that's a workaround that moves ahead, but does it actually go to the next bookmark?

And both of you, are these bookmarks automatically recorded with the program, or can you add them while recording or later?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Button Test under Macro options. If using a RP1 or RP6, put the button in standalone.
I'll let you know tomorrow..

Yes it goes to the next bookmark within a recording.

They are automatic. on a a hour show they are every 15 Mins. When you look at the record bar (Push Play and a green bar will appear on the bottom of the screen showing you how much time is left) you will see these white lines every 15 mins. Those are the bookmarks. Press FF than Advance and the show will jump to that marker.

I can't believe more people don't do the Series III with cable cards. Those cable boxes are big and clunky, HOT, have no discretes, and the DVRs are the most in-personal experience. Tivo is miles ahead of any cable company DVR. Yes, you give up the two way stuff like on demand, but I love mine..

I am trying to replicate the TiVo function on the DirecTV HR20. The hack works but you have to get the key combos just right - hence the macro desire.

You can also set your own bookmarks in a recorded show, but I am using it mostly for the 15 minute advance.

So specifically, what I am trying to is the following:

- Add graphic button to T2C screen (Next Bookmark)
- Trigger macro with single press
- Press and Hold the Fast Forward Command
- Play

Note: When you press and hold the fast forward command that is part of the standard discretes in the TT Library for the HR20s, it just keeps scanning forward. However, it will work on the factory remote.

This says to me, learn the code. I did a Rotel receiver recently, and there are posts about how the volume commands in the database all just go up one step. I found that too, and the workarounds didn't work. Around. I then learned the commands from the receiver and the learned commands work perfectly. The database is a collection of commands, not necessarily perfect commands.
