Well the title kind of says it all.

I have a K4 taking a composite feed out of a matrix switch. There is a nice rolling line. I disconnected the matrix and connected the line straight to a DVD player. Still rolling line. Brought out another K4 and hooked it up next to the rack as the other is connected. No rolling line. Guess its some thing on the feed to the unit in the wall 2 floors away.

The K4 is connected to a CB-4 and to a Linksys switch there is a single coax run too. Line is present even before adding internet today. Wires in the house were run by a sparky who got fired off the job before I could talk with him.

Next idea I was going to try was to balun the other cat in the wall and see if that helps.

Anyone have any good cure alls with the K4.

BTW the same video feed is routed to several TVs around the house and there is no sign of lines.

Two words.

Jensen transformer.

Plan for one in every job. You might not need it. But then again you might.

I thought I read somewhere a while back that if you turn off the ambient light sensor that will help a lot. Or like the fish said, you could get a ground isolator.

I've found lots of ground loop "symptoms" with the K4, whenever the light sensor is enabled and / or the K4 is set to "dim" when idle.

If I leave it set to stay bright.... the lines are gone.

These guys are definitely susceptible to this issue. Not sure why.
...couple a thumb tacks and a stick of double sided tape should hold this baby up...

second that: I tried everything else as well: the IsoMax's are expensive but cheaper than spending hours troubleshooting at an installation site

unless RTI fixes the issue, you will need these

Turning off the light sensor was the only thing that corrected the issue on our lat K4 project. Tried many different cheap and expensive isolators, they made some difference but the light sensor was our issue.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I forgot about that thread with the ambient light sensor.

In most of my installs I have full access to the router and can push minor changes to the T4 across a VPN. In this job its 1hr away and on a T1 from a corporate network. Think the IT guy is going to let me get on a VPN??? As they went to a T1 to the guys house... doubt they have the ability in the infrastructure. I could call and walk the customer through how to use the settings page... But its only good till they reset or have a power outage. Ohh well and having this guy in the settings page scares me.

It has been awhile since I have run across this, but something is telling me to open up the K4 and re seat the video board. Also give a call to tech support. Good luck.
