Hey guys-

Out here at CEDIA and have been schmoozing it /w the RTI guys. Here is some of what I’ve learned.

RTI and FLASH! YES YES YES OH GOD YES. Word just came down from the top that RTI and Adobe have paired up. No answers on what exactly will be possible, but expect animated menus.

The 1st ZIGBEE remotes will be the T2C and the T3V, others to follow later.

XP8 is shipping in one way mode in October, 2 way 1st quarter. I was really bummed out not to see an example of the 2 way here.

I saw TT 6.0 beta. 232 database is there. RTI has hired a full time 232 programmer to populate the database.

In addition to the other new items in the "New RTI" thread, there is also a contact closure expander that couples with system processors to provide and additional 12 contacts (I think its 12).

The designers and engineers are here. If you guys have questions you want me to ask them just let me know, I will be at the show again tomorrow. Ill check the thread later tonight and tomorrow morning.

Thanks Chris.

Theere are so many "Wants and Needs' from us custom guys, if you could just ask the designers to read the posts here, I think (hope) that would go a long way.

I have to agree with the Fish. They could get at least a few good suggestions from the experienced guys around here. Hell even if they just look, I don't expect them to open themselves up to every little question or problem.

Add a simple "Delete Text" option when in the editor and you want to clear a button. Otherwise it is Edit, delete, save... how about a simple shortcut?
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Question:

I plan on replacing RP-6's with XP8's as soon as I can get my hands on them: will I be able to simply add the XP8/ download the program, and delete the RP6 or will I have to do a lot of reprogramming?

When you are in Theatertouch and you have a config with an RP-1, if you click DEVICE, Convert , to RP-6 you can easily change an RP-1 to a RP-6.

It would be a good bet to assume RTI would add an option to convert to XP-8, if they have been anything they have been consistent.

The T3-V looked great!!!

It fits better and seems smaller in the hand than the current T3 (it made the T2C seem big and bulky) and the resolution is 480x640. I will have to rework my graphics but it will be a small price to pay for the better screen.

It sounds like it will likely ship 2 way next spring with Wifi and possibly also Zigbee. It sounds like the Wifi will serve both as control communication protocol with the processor and as a browser. Nobody mentioned flash to me, however (I did not think to ask).

The new processor options look cool. I wonder how the RP6 will evolve once the MRP-64 processor-keypad hub is released. I can not see it dissapearing at the price-feature point it occupies.

Flash is a reality. It will be a simple firmware upgrade to the products already in the field.

I don't see the RP6 changing at all really. I think at the most they will add ethernet or a firmware upgrade to enable one of the contact closures to trigger a programming event. If I only get one of the two, I vote for ethernet.

Ethernet would be my choice also. Wouldn't it be great to make minor changes like favorites lists to a clients system through an open port from the office?

I am just getting excited to not have to run down to the rack and plug in a USB cable when programming whole house systems.

I think that is one of my favorite things about programming AMX... no programming cables needed.
