Anyone out there had good success with integrating an RTi remote with multi screens for room control with Russound? It would seem like a winner to me for a wireless remote solution for a multi room system. And if you had success, what method did you use for controlling the CAV 6.6.?
Thanks for your input Guy's!

the only real way to control the cav 6 from a multi room remote is with 232. i have done it and it works well but be prepared for a boatload of programming.

I use Nuvo rather than Russound, but I can speak for other dealer friends of mine who have used RTI with Russound systems with good results, via RS232 of course. I believe the command list is posted on the DL section of RC in ms word or some other format from which you can copy/paste (the list from Russound is in a copy-protected PDF for some reason).

I posted the list you are referring to at IP. I looked to see if someone also uploaded it here but I could not find it.

I've used rti with an elan system 6. Similar scenario I believe to integrating with Russ CAV66. Each port out needs to be two wire spliced into each zoned keypad ir/ground wires. I used a 66 telephone punch block to keep my splices clean and organized. One of my rti outputs I ran to a xantech ir connecting block first so i had enough other outputs to run my other equipment that didn't need ir routing. Much easier to hook up with rs-232 if you can figure out the programming.

FYi Guys - I spoke to Peter at RTi today, he said that the RS232 module (from RTi) was definitly in the works, but wouldn't be availible till years end. That would be around the same time as the new release of the RP-8.

Years end huh.

Why dont they just keep the lid on products that are coming, then just release when they are ready?

I guess the RoHs really set them back.

I have fully controlled a multiple CAV6.6 system with RTI, I definately recommend using rs232, it is much easier and more reliable the the IR alternative. typing in the codes does take some time but at least russound spells the codes out for you, no calculating is necessary. I think it took a half a day to program in all the rs232 for every command for multiple units, I just used the macros in the rp6 to store all the commands then used system macros to tie to the codes from each panel, so as to only program all the commands once. Best part is you only need 1 cm232 and the RNET will transmit the rs232 to the whole russound syste. Anyways, I don't have a way to host the file for you or I would upload my RP6 template for the CAV6.6. Anyways, good luck...
