I know how to use theRP6 with its IR macro triggers, I have used it lots to convert to complex 232 strings and it is great to shoot a single IR command at it and get what I need. My question this time though is can I select (or import) my own IR code to initiate these macros.

For example, I want the customer's original Zenith console TV ch+ command to initiate a set of 232 strings to various devices. Is this possible or am I stuck with RTI's set of IR codes?

thanks,

j

the zenith would have to be able to use the RTI generated trigger codes, But I rather doubt that would ever be a viable option

I have not seen an option like this (ala video storm).

You can always use a macro that will issue ch+ and call a macro.

I have no idea what your application is.

The application is a remote that must be retained but is not a learning remote and does not have codes for a Dell TV, so I need something that will take an IR input of MY choosing and output 232 (or IR) of my choosing.

The Xantech responds to their own IR programmer codes, so again would need a learning remote.

Always thought it would be cool to have an IR translator myself.

Let me know if you find anything.

So... using a RP6 but not an RTI remote?

Yeah, and not a programmable remote either, I need to be able to shoot out sony vol + (or some other preprogrammed code that IS in the remote) and get dell vol +

the only way is to use something that will spit out Trigger codes that were created by the specific RP-6. I supose if you were very clever, you could take the guts out a RTI U1 and put that in the chassis of the zenith remote in question, the parts should be small enough. I for the life of me can not figure out why you have to keep that crappy zenith remote in the loop

I agree with David!

sometimes, in the quest for a "simple" and cheap solution, it becomes more complicated and expensive.

I emailed back and forth with jputtcamp.

He was trying to run with an idea that I had once and gave up on.

He wants to use a PPU to trigger specific commands. As a PPU can't learn a command... I pointed him to this piece I read about here called the Ocelot. I emailed the PDF of it over and he thought that might do what he needed it too...
