Has anyone done one with IR? I couldn't get the discrete On or Off to work. They did work fine on the PRO1150. I got the hex codes from the .ccf file on the Pioneer web site.

Pretty funny isn't it, just when you get all your remote files in order and
Pioneer throws you a curve. Just did a 5080 and a 4280 and had to get out the IR-Pro and learn in the inputs and on/off.

My prior learned codes for the "70" series did not work.

Seems the FP1 codes will work for power and input though.

FP1 - responds to older 40 series and earlier and FP1

40 Series - responds to 40 series and earlier

50 Series - responds to 50 series and FP1

What a PITA ! Would have been nice to know ahead of time Pioneer !

I certainly wish I had known ahead of time but that's not the way it works! I'm not at the factory or in engineering.
PLEASE check the Pioneer Custom Install page for the codes for new models.
The "tolerance" for gaps in the IR signal were tightened so that I had to recreate totally new codes.
The new codes will work on older models but older codes won't work on new models.
GWilly did you know that the ccf and mxf files were available on our site?

I knew something was amiss, because I went thru my "mega list" codes and some worked. I definitely know about the ccf and mxf files as my last resort, however I am a firmly entrenched RTI person who also wonders why (most or any) of the manufacturers could at least start a cml files section. Yamaha throws a bone and puts maybe 15% in this format.

Why open another programming software format, and spend time cutting and pasting, when in a little bit of time have the discretes by learning? BTW I hate pronto and MX software;)

I got the codes (Pasted the Pronto hex from the .ccf into IR Library Manager) from the Pioneer custom install page for the PRO-950HD and they do not work for discrete power. As I stated they do work on the PRO-1150HD.

If there could just be a cut and paste doc that would be fine too.
Execel format or even as low as a straight up word or notepad doc with 0000 hex would be great!

Sorry galileo01 but the codes for the 950 worked with my Pronto.
I even downloaded the file from the Pioneer CI page but it worked on the 950 that I tried at BB. The same file worked for the FHD1 and the 1150 AND the 1150 file worked on everything as well. As I knew, the 940 file only worked with the FHD1.
I apologize but I don't know what is going on with the 950 you are working with.
I don't have an RTI remote to test the ccf's with but I would gladly accept one of one of you want to send one my way. Let me know if you need my address.

Springs, that is a great idea but I barely have time to get files together for the CI page and do my job as a trainer. Maybe in the future I can convince the powers that working with IR & RS-232 controle is a full-time job!

NSP01,
As I said the codes worked on the 1150 so it seems to be a problem with the 950. Are there different firmware versions of the 950 that have been shipped.I'll try putting the .ccf on a pronto I have and see if it works.

I have never had a problem pasting the codes in before. But, I have had Pioneer PROs that didn't respond to the discrete power codes properly before, both Pronto and RTI remotes. I have had a problem with them not turning back On when using the Off command needed to use Power toggle to turn back on or Toggle power off and use the On command.

Thanks Scott

Scott,
To be sure it's not that old issue, try unplugging the panel for a minute.
Then try the 950 codes.
Wait, that may not tell us anything!
Try the codes and if they don't work unplug the panel. Then try them again.

The issue with discrete on & off causing the panels to lock-up is a strange one. It doesn't happen often enough for us to recreate it but I'm tempted to think that the gap in the older files could be the issue. That is conjecture on my part but I may try to get an answer from across the sea.
Typically the reply is that Pioneer remotes work just fine so don't bother me.

Good Luck and let me know how things turn out.

John

Thanks for your efforts... but just a thought. In the last couple of months many remotes have finally added in direct hex entry.
UEI Nevo got it.
HELL URC finally added it.

PCFs are more and more starting to truncate the codes so they can't be imported to other remotes and CCF... how long has it been since they were the current format... ??? :)

Anyhows... any help is appreciated. Just pointing out that you should be able to just post 0000 hex, and just about everyone can use that now.

I think you hit on something here.

With the time I currently spend interpreting, cracking, generating and testing codes I could sell more Pioneer displays :)

I was surprised that Denon did not take my offer of expanding my hex form IR documentation to include their newer code sets and providing them with an excel or PDF chart for posting and download on their site. All I asked for in exchange was a 3808 :).

Are you serious? Maybe you should have asked for a audyssey microphone or one of those fancy Denon black touchpad remotes.
