Vidikron plasma in the master bed with a T4, and RP1

Vidikron Plasma in the great room with a T4, RP6, RM433.

great room and master bed are on the same floor, separated by the master bath

Other RTI stuff but not part of this problem

Master bed T4 was replaced because it rebooted all the time with a new T4. Wouldnt work, found out the old Rm433's dont work with the new Rhos T4's. Replaced the RM433 with a new one.

Master bed T4 won't talk to the great room RP6/RM433 any closer than about 30-40' (works on one side of the room, not the other) talks to the local RP1 fine.

The RP6 is talking to an Integra MZA via RS232.

Master bed plasma is on (has to be for TV), Great room plasma is off.

Wifi in the house, no crazy dimming loads, microwave and oven were off. System worked fine with the old styff, but the rebooting of the T4 everytime you touched the screen was unaccecptable.

I'm going out tomorrow to add another antenna at my expense, but I thought the RM433 was good for 100'

any ideas?

I just had some similar problems with a T4. If using cat5 between RP6 and RM433's make sure to use pairs. Also the manual shows having 2 RM433's near the rack. I added a RM433 to my setup, and my T2+ is way more stable.

Check your firmware on everything.

Beware of Wireless security and weather stations. Both of those can be in the same RF range as the 433.

I have an installation where both a T2-C and U1 work, using a RM433 and RP6, at over 100'. The range for the T2-C is really dependent on battery strength, but good for 80' on a partial charge. The distances mentioned are distances from the outside of the cottage/house with the RM433 located inside the house in the basement and the RP6 sitting on top of the equipment rack. The client also has a Linksys wireless router working in this cottage.

So, stating the obvious, there has to be something inside your house that is interfering with the system. Have you tried other RM433 locations within the room?

we have had similar problems with T3's and Rp1's and have found that the RF range depends also on the antenna's proximity to the gear. the farther we move the rp1 away from the gear in the head end the better the range gets. Also we have found that it is not a good idea to mount any antenna, rm433 or otherwise, behind a plasma. i suppose the electrical fields interfere . Hope that helps

yes keep the antenna as far away from the equipment and metal racks as possible. I have had antennas fail at a 10 foot range because of this...
Hey, thats a nice plasma, you can put that in the back of my truck...

Check if your Rm433 has a date sticker on it. If not and just a ROHS sticker... range can suck. Try an RM 433 with the date sticker after RTI told me to and it works fine.

I have had this issue a few times myself now. I spoke RTI and apperently the had a defect which is now fixed. But mixing and match old with new can be a headache.

He did say just send them in for an exchange...
