Hi guys.
I saw a newer harmony remote yesterday at a friend's jobsite. It seems they have made some improvements since the last time I used one (in 2005).
Do any of you RTI guys like the current lineup? are there some good/ some bad? or should I still not bother with them?
Thanks

Thanks For a cheap remote, they are decent. Their software is screwy and they continue to muck it up more with every software release. If you haven't used in a while, I would stay away. Just not worth it. I would use inexpensive URC remotes for this price point.

I still see Harmony as a DIY product, just look at AVS.
If I can't customize it I am not gonna use it...

Do any of you RTI guys like the current lineup? Nope. Taking 2 out of jobs this week and sending them to the trash-ola where they belong. That will make about 11 in the last 3 weeks. JUNK!

I have pulled out several and replaced them with real remotes. They must be advertizing the S&%T out of them because customers are asking sales about Harmony. Well he was selling them... but now that they are leaving A$#D. That should end that.

The only think I like about the Harmony line is the look of joy on our client's face once we replace it with RTI.

Please tell me, what is this "Harmony" that you speak of???
Seriously though, I've done a couple for customers on a budget, then replaced them with RTI's. Even though if you are willing to fool around a bit, you can kinda make them do what you want, they are totally aimed at end-user and are not a custom product.
There is just no comparison.

I tend to loose more time and money installing Harmoney remotes. By the time either my client or myself with return trips, frustrated nights trying to find problems, and spend the time and money from my pocket or the clients, I could have put in an RTi remote and all of us would be happy. And that means we all sell more work and spend our days on the less stressful side of business (customer support, on our own nickle).

The IR remotes are not bad for simple solutions. I've done over 400 harmony remotes in the last two years. I've recently been doing RTI instead of using the H-1000 and the H-890, because when the battery dies on them the remote loses its connection with the base station. Try explaining to a client that they have to climb into their equipment closet to press a button on the extender to reconnect the remote, very frustrating to get so many calls on this.
The H-1000 is total junk. You can't customize a single thing on it. The main screen for an activity for a DVR is always defaulted at the DVR controls instead of the number buttons and you can't change it. The battery dies so often we get calls about every day asking why their system isn't working. We started replacing all of the H-1000s out in the field with T2-Cs and HTM-MX900s.

Yup, just not something I ever want to touch! I get a few calls about it and usually tell the person they should get something better.
