When installing a K3 outputting IR to a connecting block, can you use the connecting block to power up the K3? Or do you need the CB4 or PS16 to do so? This system is NOT using a control processor.

Thx

Those power supplies are 16vdc, but the terminal block description for the RK3 lists 9vdc - 16vdc at the 16vdc terminal. Using a PS16, they say it will power up to four RK3's. That equates to 16vdc at 400mA per keypad.

I wouldn't use less than a 12vdc, 500mA, regulated power supply.

It might just be easier to use the PS16.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Thanks alot. I spoke to RTI about it. They say it would work, but they don't reccomend it on their color products. Just going to do the CB4.

Regards,
Vincent

I had the same talk with them a few weeks ago and decided to go with the CB4 too.

Why not right? It integrates nicely with the rest of the system and it gives you additional options down the line, as well as providing the neccesary power. I really wanted to go with a K4, hope the K3 "downgrade" doesn't feel that way.

We have the K4 and K3 in the store...

When it comes down to basic controls i.e. whole house audio, I'd take the K3 in a heart beat.
