Did they just come out today? Let us know how it is.

Also noticed on RTI's site that the remote has changed to a light grey color.

God I hate myself for saying this, but it's kind of plasticky (I didn't say junky) . I expected something with a little more weight like the T2-C but I guess thats where the price point is. Yes, it is a greyish charcoal color with black trim. It reminds me of cloning a T-2C with an MX-900 from URC. I love the Power on and Power off buttons. The next page and favorites are so small I can barely press down on them. All in all it's a well done remote and it should fir the bill if you need to do a remote in a bedroom, or room that is not equipped like a theater, but still offer you good control on zone 2 house surround and basic equipment. I will sell these and lots of them no doubt. Hopefully not in place of the higher line, but as an extra piece.

Does it look like the new picture on the website or more like the cut sheet?

I'm interested to know whether the M2 has the same issue that some of the other remotes have when interfacing to an "older" RM-433. You know, the issue where the range is significantly reduced, etc. due to some newer parts (RoHs) being used. This issue required newer RM-433's (with a date code on the back) to make them work properly.

Anyone try the M2 with a much older RM-433?

Thanks,
Dino

Springs -

Somewhere in the middle. The cut sheet give an overall black impression - in fact it's dark grey with black trim. Not to be picky, but I woul dhave preferred an all black design. The picture on the website makes it look all light grey - also not accurate. I think it's pretty nice, it started to grow on me a little more last night. I thought it would be a little narrower and bigger (like the T2-C), but it's a perfect one hander with no reaching. I don't know what the battery life will be like, I will let you know. If the RP1 was a little cheaper I probably could sell them together to people who don't even want a universal - but this remote is a great second room/zone remote and a better layout than the T2s.

Also, does the M2 have the loud "ball bearing" style pickup sensor?

Any comments on the M2 yet? Has anyone programmed one yet?

You can blame ROHS for that. In getting rid of the Mercury switches they went to the ball bearing style.

Out of curiosity, where'd you get your M2? My sources have them just starting to ship, but your the only person I know of who's received one (including AVAD).

they are the only place to get one from, unless you buy a personal use one direct from RTI

Some distribution locations are closer to the headquarters than others, so they get them sooner than the west coasters or east coasters
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

Actually that was the whole point. They needed to have a remote in the $400 range that ran off of disposables... You know the old MX850 market.
