Did Rich_Guy change his name and post here again??

My thoughts exactly - did he relocate across the big pond??

ssfx, how you doing? Thanks for the complement.

No one here actually seems to grasp the idea I am trying to explain.

I am well aware that some products come with a dealer attached. Some products need to have a dealer attached because of the complexity. However there is no reason why a consumer should be denied the option to opt our of dealer assistance until they need it. In the context of the RTI remotes. He can choose at POS to say I'll do it myself. Dealer says no problem but if you kill it I will bill for a reset and/or programming. It's so simple it's painful.

flcusat, I implied the remote alone. I am fully aware of what the RTI's will do with peripherals.

I have always lived in the UK. Your CI industry is vastly superior to ours in numbers and complexity. As a Manager I could see the benefits of simply selling a product and/or following the client round with all my services. Both have a place in the business today. I believe in giving the customer the option. The customer can always pay me later to pick up the pieces, and are happy to do so if you've explained the protocols at POS.

Anyway I like the T2-C and can see myself obtaining one for my own use. One way or another I will find one and programme it myself.

not a nice thing to do: and no amount of explanation or rationalization will change that

I understand what you are saying and disagree with you. Having the customer do the programing devaules the product in my opinion. And it appears the opinion of RTI.
When good enough is not good enough.

Exactly, and there are several brands that offer that option. Why do you insist on trying to bend RTI into that shape? They have chosen to make their product CI-supported.

Anyway I like the T2-C and can see myself obtaining one for my own use.

And you can! Just not this way, you're not in the industry anymore, you are a consumer. Play by the rules!

Gents, we have a had a lively discussion here and it really amazes me how tightly knitted the small representation of the US CI trade is here. We'll leave it now as I do not want to start some crazy battle going on the forum. My opinion in this context is clearly not accepted by the rest of you. I have no problem with that. I'll get me a T2-C and the lastest software somewhere. It's funny as now I know just how much it sucks being a consumer. It makes me a bit annoyed that I played some part in it all before. Anyway in closing good luck to everyone that joined in.

Spillage,
Given your reason for not being in the industry, my remark about you being a consumer may have been a bit harsh.
I apologise.
In the spirit of camaraderie, if you do get your T2-C, and get into any programming binds, I would be glad to offer assistance.

Let me just say, Spilliage, that I had contacted RTI imediately after seeing your posting and after speaking with Matt Lust the link was removed within the hour. It doesn't matter what you think should be right or wrong, this is a policy set forth by someone else and you should respect it. I bet your house consists of burned DVDs, fake Louie Vutton bags, and probably a ton of dealer only garbage you got on Ebay. So what? There will always be people like you who suck the blood out of the any system you can because you believe we live in a free for all world. So go get your T2C on Ebay or from someone else just like you and we will keep doing whatever we can to prevent people like you from "stealing" what you will. By the way, if you would have just took the software and didn't open your fat trap it wouldn't have been that big of a deal. But the fact that you rub it in peoples faces that make a living off this makes me sick.

Vincent,

how nice of you to post. I wouldn't normally "rise" to this sort of post but you asked for it. I know you contacted RTI and had the post removed. Good for you, you're protecting what you believe in. What you will NOT do is slag me personally. Shame you not round the corner, that way I could tell you to your face. I have NO burned CDs or DVDs. I have around 1200 READ CD's 600 odd REAL DVD's and may 300 LD's and I guess 600 odd LP's. I don't go around collecting fake garbage, nor do I, and I am pissed you assume it, suck the blood from any system. You are out of line Vincent, and you know it!! I will get my T2-C from a real dealer using my myriad of contacts. I will get what legitamately but without the dealer tie in. How dare you assume I have a fat trap. In the UK, I can say want I want, when I want to, and more to the point, to whom I want to. If you're uncomfortable with something..take a look at yourself first.

Have a nice day.

END...........................................

Actually, I'm looking and I am pretty comfortable, thanks. I'm not going to argue over such a stupid point. You posted your link, now it's gone. I'm happy and I can sleep pretty comfortable at night. If you ever visit the states please feel free to drop by and I would love to tell you to your face. I welcome the day. In the meantime, hopefully some idiot will post the software again for you. Have a great day.

Honestly why does anyone still waste time responding to these whining "I want my software" threads anymore? Its just a waste of time. They bitch and cry, you(we) respond, and its just feeds the drama. You want drama, read up on Stanley:)

Guess what? you cant get the software unless your a dealer.
End of story.
Deal with it!
If you want to find out why, do a search! Its been hashed out MANY times before.
No, I wont install your plasma with an orange extension cord hanging down the wall.

Name one time the debate has done anything but flare up at some point. No one ever goes, "oh, that's fine".

I say state the facts, don't get so emotional, and sayonara.

Spillage, you really are a piece of work.

I suppose RTI as the CREATOR of the entire control line has no "god given right" to choose their market?

Guess what - the manufacturer doesn't WANT people like you as their customers! and THAT is their right.

Stop whining to us.

If you have the right to own and play with anything you want regardless of anyone else, just go steal what you want.

Or better yet, use all that obvious intelligence, and build a better one yourself. at least you would be too busy to waste our time.
