Instead of mounting the IRF-6 antenna behind my TV stand I think I can tuck it away in a different position in my room, probably giving me a better effective range. However, the 12 ft cable is not long enough to get there. Does anyone know if extending the cable by another 4-6 feet or so will adversely affect performance? What cable should I use...would ThinNet coax cable (10Base2) work?

I think I read something on this... that right now it's really not recommended to extend the cable, but they were working on something.

I used a 12ft coax cable extension with BNC adapters on either end. It actually extended my range because the antenna was able to be placed closer to the center of the room.

Thought so. Will try the same and post my experiences.

I put a Y adaptor on mine and used 2 sony dss rf antennas and my range is great now..... Even with one dss rf antenna the range was increased. We used to use these with the niles intellicontrol.

Thanks, that's a great tip. I've got a couple of those Sony RF antennas around.

Got around to installing the IRF-6 this weekend. Bought a coax cable with BNC plugs at RadioSchack, so I could extend the antenna cable to reach a nice hidden spot (between wall and little side-table) in my living room. I am getting about a 40ft radius of reception. Given the mid-way location of my antenna, that covers the entire main floor, as well as my outside deck.
Very nice not to have to worry about keeping the remote pointed at equipment until a macro is done. I am quite happy with this RF option.
