Hello All, this is just a quick reminder...Mega list 14 is getting close

If you have any new IR codes that you want to see added to the new Mega List
Send them in as the new list is getting close to being submitted

I know several of you keep sending in codes and a big Thanks to you for them

Also if any one has noticed any odd files or non working codes let me know so we can fix them

Thanks all

What is the best way to do this Glack? Is there a way to extract individual files out the mega list? I've got several codes for Cambridge Audio that others might be able to use.

Just use the export feature.

Open up your code list
Select remote from the toolbar
Drop to Export
Select the devices you want to export by checking them
Give it a name
There you go!

I have actualy spoken with RTI about modifying the Library manager, so that you can create favorite lists. You would simply drag those remote files you want to your pre- labeled favorites subfolder, the manager would automaticaly make (for example) a Lexicon subfolder in your favorite list if you draged over the remote sub folder for MC12 and so forth.

That would be cool, but I would really like to be able to import only selected remotes from a seperate file instead of the entire thing.

I feel like RTI doesn't pay much attention to our comments re: the library manager.

I mentioned via email once that when you are searching for a device, say a Sony plasma TV, and it turns out to be empty or worthless, the next time you browse for Sony plasma it could at least store the mfr and type in the fields so you don't have to re-click for those each time. Also, how about to go from mfr to type to model...just simple windows protocol.

I later mentioned it to Matt and he said "OH that's a good idea" but I guess that's all it is.

Thats exactly what I am implying, you could drag and drop and individual remote into your favorite folder

I really appreciate all the work you guys do on the database. The only thing I'd say is to be more selective on what you take as new submissions. There are so many duplicates that it is time consuming to work with a new model and have to weed through files that are straight duplicates, have one or two codes in them, and so on. If I work on existing components, the RTI is fast to set up, but if it's a new model I haven't seen before, then it could be 20 minutes of frustrating searches to find codes. In that case, a URC is a ton faster to program.

This is why I ask for individual codes, I have had several people send me their entire library..in which I have just deleted. I dont have time to disect an enite library to extract 1 or 2 new codes. If you send me a code or codes make a quick note if it missing a few commands or any info you may have on it...tested, untested, double repeats and such, I can then try to add the missing codes or change the repeats to try and correct any issues it may have

I do the mega list in my free time so I am not paid for my work on it. I am helping Dave to keep the list going as he created the orginal Mega list many years ago, I too saw many repeats and duplicates from the master RTI list and began correcting as I had time. I will try to correct any duplicates or incompletes but alot of the products I dont use, if anyone comes across a file with issues please email me and I will do what I can to fix it for the next release of the Mega List

Thanks
Glack

Glack, thanks for the hard work. As a suggestion, you should post a faq on your website or in this file area and tell everyone who wants to send you codes to read the FAQ first. You must have to tell people this every time you make a list.

Vincent-

I have only received a few codes from a few people, so the new list is going to be held back for another month or so...maybe in late july it will get sent out

Not really worth releasing a new list with only a few codes added

If you have codes you want to add please send them my way
Please only send complete files and not a whole library of codes.

or if you have any ir files that need attention in the list now send me an email so those can be deleted or corrected

Thanks

I don't think I have added much since the last library.
