Well, I broke down and got the IRF-6. So far I am not impressed with the range. With the antenna in a crappy spot (leaning against back of TV stand) I still expected more than 30 feet with obstructions. But it sure is nice not to worry about line of sight. Makes macros a lot more reliable.
Anyway, one of my IR emitters is dedicated to an IR543. No matter what I set the output level of the port at, the IR543 does not like the IR emitter so close by, stuck on its window. Before I construct some ingenious home cooked solution, I was wondering if anyone else had this problem..and how you solved it?

Range -- did you see that little note about how far away to keep it from TVs?
So far I just use standard IR with the IR543 -- but I've seen others use such emitters on them. Perhaps you just have an emitter that's too good? :-)
