Howdy,

I was wondering if it is possible to order extra battery packs? I think I will want to pick one up in a couple of weeks. I accidently unplugged my recharger so my 2nd battery never re-charged. Of course I did not notice this until my other battery ran out of juice. I would like to have a 3rd battery charged and ready to go in those situations because it is easy to accidently unplug the recharger where I have it plugged in.

It was actually kind of funny, I was fast forwarding through a comercial whent he battery ran out and I could not stop it when the comercials ended. It took me a few min's to figure out what was happening. :)

Thanks,

Will

I believe that 2 batteries and a charger can be ordered without a remote(call RTI and talk to Dave)

I once worked with an satellite engineer (things that go around the earth, not tv) who swore by reconditioning his nicad batteries by zapping them with a fairly large capacitor. What he would do is ground them for a long period and then charge a fairly large capacitor (I recall about 50-100K microfarad) with a similar voltage as the battery he was trying to condition. He would then discharge the capacitor into the battery causing the structure of the battery to re-align. I have not tried this but I watched him do it, and he swore it made his batteries suffering from hysterisis behave just like new.

I would not try this if you are not technically inclined but it makes some sense that it would work. I guess as the batteries age or go to an absolute zero voltage, the alignment of its structure becomes in disarray causing them to not take or hold a charge.

Will,
I spoke with etronixs about the extra battery status for the rti's about a week ago. If you call them they can send you one.

Thanks for all the info! My batteries were behaving like normal, my problem was all operator error. :) I ran one battery down and put it in the charger, but the charger was not plugged in. Then when the second battery died, the first battery had no charge. It was no big deal except that I had no way to control my equipment. I will give etronix a call and find out about ordering an extra battery.

Thanks again!

"... put it in the charger, but the charger was not plugged in."

Will, I retract what I said about you being a real power user :-).

Seems to be a pretty power efficient user!
